Biography

2 time Vancouver Seeds runner up in Vancouver, Canada. Over the years I have played countless gigs and written and co-written a volume of songs... some are even pretty good! In 2008 teamed up with CCMA nominated Producer "John Macarthur Ellis" to record a the album entitled "Cradle of Secrets", recieving honourable mention from UK & Billboard 2009 songwriting competition semi-finalist.
New single "Cinderella" has placed semi-finalist in UK 2011 & WITR Acoustic Round Singer/songwriter contest 2011.

Instrumentation

Will play solo with accoustic guitar or with one or more band members, depending upon venue.

  Smith has made a fine album in which listeners can make a sport of detecting her influences. The opener "You Just Know" could be a distaff Tom Petty, while "Can't Get You Out of My Mind" nicks the Beatles guitar figure for "I Feel Fine" (or Eght Days a Week", pardon my confusion). Impeccable sources anyway, and producer John Ellis has helped her fashion an earthy roots rock with dashes of hammond organ, banjo, and steel guitar...

  I’ve been listening to the CD for the past couple days and am really enjoying the hell out of it!! Marilyn’s vocals are smooth, relaxed and effortless throughout every track!
  
  A strong collection of songs written by Marilyn with performances by the some of the best players around.
  
  "You Just Know" - Country guitar ballad ready for anybodies radio.
  "Somewhere Near Paradise" - once upon a time she fell in love somewhere else
  "Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind" - Vocals flavored ala Chrissie Hynde & Blondie, Marilyn Smith rocks it up nicely
  "When a Bandit Comes to Town" oh ya she’s been lovin bad boys, this tune makes you want to get all dangerous eh guys ;o)
  "In The Cradle Of Your Secrets" - the title cut really measures up, great groove with a big crossover quality to the lyrics.
  "Southern Dream" - beauty album cut
  "She’s Got Your Heart" - heartache in its finest form - bittersweet.
  "While I Wait" - Blue Rodeo feel with a better looking Cuddy.
  "Take A Chance On Love" - good advise delivered in a easy listening package.
  "Would I Live It Any Other Way" - a question we all eventually ask
  AND if you’re a fan of these names John Ellis, Rick Salt, Jerry Paquette you know your going to be listening to a quality recording project. No disappointments here, nice job guys a real world class project.
