Biography

Savanna Road Band originated in the early 80’s by members and long time friends Hal Hartwig and Mike Gibson during their camping trip to Mississippi Palisades State Park just north of Savanna, IL.

The guys enjoyed playing songs from the Eagles, America, Alabama, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and became regulars at local bars and dinner clubs.

Adding a drummer, SRB continued their success in northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin playing a combination of new country and classic rock.

In 1995, Cindy Aikin, came up on stage to sing a couple songs with the band; her powerful vocals and tremendous stage presence made her an immediate hit with the audience. A short time later, Cindy joined the band full time to take on the lead vocal role.

In 2009 Bruce Honniball, an exceptional drummer, singer, and musician joined Hal, Mike, and Cindy. He also heads up the groups’ media presence and recording efforts.

The band, now Savanna Road, play high-energy music that makes people want to get up and dance. We know you’ll like what you hear so come listen and party with Savanna Road!

  SR fans stood shoulder to shoulder to enjoy the bands high-energy blend of classic rock and new country. Standing cheers and dancing were the themes as the band played a double set from 8 – 10pm Friday 9/25.
  
  ‘We are anxious to have Savanna Road back to the Penny Road on a regular basis’ said Bob Cozza of JBC, Inc (Booking Manager And Exclusive Penny Road Pub Main Stage Bookings) – ‘They are one of the best new bands we’ve had here’.
