Biography
JENKINS HOLLOW
Americana/Rockabilly/Alternative Country/Southern Rock
Jenkins Hollow is Americana with a rock edge, fronted by singer and lead guitarist Rose Manfre, whose guitar style harks from the gutsy old-rock school of Joe Perry. Her vocal style is influenced by Debbie Harry and Chrissie Hynde.
Jenkins Hollow’s songs are catchy, they will stick to you; sometimes sweet and soulful, sometimes raw and rockin’, these are well-crafted tunes about life in America.
Jenkins Hollow is a group of seasoned musicians. Drummer Joe Manfre has played with Rose in the Mid-Atlantic area for years in bands such as Spitshine and All About Susie. He brings his Ringo Starr-influenced rock style to the band, keeping it solid but not overdone, and bassist Greg Poseno brings movement to the songs with his walking bass lines. Guitarist Howard Markman has a style reminiscent of the best work of guys like Mike Campbell and Ry Cooder, joining them in the ranks of those who tip their musical hats in gratitude & with respect for the innovative guitarisms of the past. He is a former member of Freewater and Disappear Fear.
Jenkins Hollow released its debut CD, “All the Scenery’s Changed”, on Adam Records in 2002. In 2005, songs from this CD were included on the compilation "American Fallout Americana Sampler, Volume One" on American Fallout Records of Newberry PA, as well as the compilation "The United State of Americana, Volume 3", on Shuteye Records of Atlanta, GA.
Jenkins Hollow’s music has been featured on radio and internet sites all over the US, Canada and Europe. The song “She Left Home” made the playlist at: “Semi-Twang”, on the Voice of Sacramento, California: angelfire.com/indie/semitwang/.
