Biography

With a sweet, pure voice and lyrics that live in your head, Karen Chisholm brings life to the stage -- the good and the bad -- full of the sound of being human. She has recorded with major label musicians and is an awarded songwriter with local and internet radio play. Chisholm has been through a lot in her young life, and the color of that experience is in every one of her songs. Raised by teenagers in Michigan, she found her own way in the world, landing in Texas as a young teen, putting herself through college and developing a career in music and graphic arts. She has survived the suicide of friends and battled thyroid cancer. It’s all there in her songs – not the details, but the sound and the feeling and the hard-earned wisdom.

In the 10 years since someone put a guitar in her hands, Chisholm has proven she has the writing and singing chops and a gift for making music people love. Proven by the sizeable international fan base, as well as her packed-house full-band performances in Austin, Texas and the surrounding cities. Her new Alternative Pop CD, “Random Year,” was released in late September of 2010. A prolific writer and go-getter, Chisholm has already laid out the next two CDs, and 4 music videos to be released before the end of 2011. One is an animated video project for the song "Rhapsody" with Troy Campbell of the Collection Agency that is expected to wrap up mid-November 2010.

Chisholm has played and collaborated with a legion of well-known artists during her seven years of stage and recording experience. Many have appeared on her CDs, including Ramy Antoun of the Blackeyed Peas, Seal, and Goldspot; AlphaRev’s/Hollywood Records Dave Wiley and Brian Batch; and solo-artist Tanya Winch. Chisholm has also worked with J.J. Placensio of Sixpence None the Richer and Plum; solo artist Elizabeth Wills, produced by Mark Hallman; Jacob Hildebrand of Deadman; Sergio Andrade formerly of Lifehouse; Frank Favacho of Second Day Red; Jon Napier and Colin McDonald.
