Artist Information

Biography

Supreme refined rawness. That is the sonic signature that producer/beatmaker Duplicuts strives for with Hip hop super group - The Immortals Project.

With a concept harkening back to Crooklyn Dodgers and its rotating membership, The Immortals Project are an East Coast based Hip hop super group with its present core members consisting of worldwide respected emcees El Da Sensei from the NJ wunderkind, Artifacts, as well as Sadat X from the legendary group Brand Nubian. The group's sole producer, New York's beatmaker Duplicuts, is currently polishing off the upcoming full-length album, 'Rogue Agents' which will contain remixes from their self-titled debut EP by the likes of Canada's Ritchcraft and DJ Wayne Ski from world renown production mainstay, Da Beatminerz.

Handpicked to fulfill the lyrical side of the self-titled debut EP is microphone heavyweight Craig G from Queensbridge, NY. An emcee who has written raps for award winning films (8 Mile), part of the infamous Juice Crew and already an icon a decade ago - Craig brings to the table the rapture that only the highest caliber of emcees posses. Also selected to hold down the verbal tapestry is world renown MC, El Da Sensei. Originally half of The Artifacts, El's reputation for his rhyme style has reverberated among Hip hop fans far and wide. Hailing from Newark, NJ, his ability to negotiate a unique flow over any beat has been highly regarded as one of the best in the genre. Rounding out the cast and providing the rhythmic platform for these emcees to let loose on is Duplicuts. An Uptown NYC native, DPC is known for his dirty habits of uncompromisingly raw and dusty breaks as well as Drum & Bass tendencies. Duplicuts's productions are said to fall somewhere between DJ Premier and DJ Shadow. With what he calls 'beatness', his style is molten-hot lava bombs on bass-heavy carpets surrounded by pure artistry.

The debut EP from The Immortals Project is a cinematic transformation of beats and triumph combined with the vivid lyricism of mythical emcees. From the shattering mercurial rhythms of Break Boys to the epic beat-fest that is Count It Off, the EP is a beautiful synthesis of sweltering low end science and Krylon orchestration. Crafted at The Citadel of Rhythmic and Microphonal Sciences, Duplicuts's flurry of cadenced beats are effortlessly managed by El Da Sensei and Craig G to create a source of newer, fresher oxygen.

The Immortals Project is an elite conglomerate of individuals who occupy an indelible place in Hip hop culture. The essence of the culture is the very construct of The Immortals.

Setlist

The songs on The Immortals EP blend from one to another when listening to the CD in its entirely so the DJ plays the show in a similar fashion. Get Charged is the first song performed and then we go right into Break Boys. The third song on the EP, Righteous Prelude, is a two minute instrumental song so we take the time during those couple of minutes to formally address the audience. After that we'll play a few El Da Sensei staples from his back catalog that he's known for. Finally the performance is closed out with Lyrically Righteous and Count It Off. During Count it Off's final two minutes we give our quick shout outs to the venue, promoter, and thank the audience for coming out and we leave the stage while the music is still playing. An average set can be 30 minutes. However that time can be lengthened or shortened. If the time allowed on stage is 30+ minutes, Duplicuts (producer) sometimes joins the DJ on stage to play beats live over a drum machine.
