If the sleek, glamorous vibe of L.A. were to mix with the streetwise edge of Detroit, the intersecting culmination would be that of one alluringly tough Detroit-based rap artist named Ms. Smith. Since the age of 10, this hip hop powerhouse has achieved more than most do in a lifetime. Those who can attest are the likes of Tony Hittman Mercedes, responsible for TLCs hit No Scrubs and The-Dream, who was responsible for such hits as Umbrella. A consummate performer, she has shared the stage with the likes of B2K, Teairra Mari, Lil Romeo, Foxy Brown, and Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys — all the while tirelessly working to promote positive social change with such organizations as the NAACP and BET. At 21 years old, Ms. Smith encapsulates the affirming notion that, when life gives you lemons, you add a little sugar and make Lemonade.
