Stephanie Joy's exploration of melodies and harmonies with vocals and piano began at age 4. Years of self-motivated sessions provided the base for her hunger to move the hearts of others through music. Early performances polished her abilities and created her natural comfort to perform.
As a mid-teen, her originals advanced her to National Fine Arts Festival events. The originals on her debut solo album 'Stephanie Joy / Inside-Out' were born out of the reality of the challenges teens & others face in this thing called "life". The title cut 'Inside-Out' reflects the reality of the fact that each of us are known inside-out. 'Our Vision', another original on the album, is her heart's cry for the lost and rejected.
Teen and adult audiences find it easy to relate to her lyrics and music. Whether she shares at solo venues, or while accompanied by a band offering a lite-contemporary sound, her seasoned piano, vocal abilities, and comfortable stage presence are obvious.
Stephanie Joy is answering her call to help people out of tough challenges in life and bring them up to a more encouraging level through music that moves the heart.
Pursuing a music degree at a private college in the mid-west, and remaining active as a music leader, Stephanie Joy thrives on outreach through music, making concert events a priority.
Modern influences on her include Sara Groves, Nicole Nordeman, Jeff Deyo, Chris Tomlin & Jason Upton. Take a little time and enjoy refreshing moments with the music of Stephanie Joy!

Still others can, but wish they could write their own songs. 18 year old Stephanie Joy has been able to accomplish all three, recording a recently released album featuring her rich vocals and powerful piano playing.
'Stephanie Joy Inside-Out' is a debut for Joy, a Christian teenage singer/songwriter. The album's title track, 'Inside-Out' includes the line, "Feeling so lost, I'm feeling so tired, I know it's time for me to surrender...who am I hiding from?" Lyrics like these exemplify the personal feel of Joy's music, much of which is rooted in her own experiences and beliefs.
Unlike some Christian musicians, Joy's music is not as general or potentially preachy, but instead uses her faith and musical ability to convey the more intimate and practical side of faith.
Mike (Vlahakis - Inside-Out project producer) has nothing but praise for the young singer. "She was just amazing. To come in so young and be able to play and sing like she did was great," he said. "We didn't have to do any pitch correction, and most of her songs were already written and arranged (by Stephanie)...she really knew what she was doing. She was very grounded and did much of the work in one take."
One of the musicians on (the project) is Mike Schlenker (who) played guitar on some of the songs and is an experienced studio musician. "Stephanie was a real cool girl with very down-to-earth kinds of tunes", he told me. "They really relate to everyone. Sometimes religious music can get sort of pigeon-holed, so to speak, but hers doesn't. It's much more than genre music."
Stephanie herself is now attending (a university) in Minneapolis, seeking a degree in music. She was selected (to perform) for the 2007 Indy Fine Arts Festival in Indianapolis (with songwriting and female vocal entries) and a similar event in Charlotte (North Carolina) earlier this year (in the same two categories).
She added, "I want my music to feel real applicable to everyday life. I really want to be able to connect with people my age through my experiences and music."
Her music sure makes you feel like she's accomplished her goals. The vocals sound rich and mature.... It's easy today for artists to feel like it's too difficult to try and make their way doing what they love, but after listening to Stephanie Joy and her piano, you may think differently.
