Biography

With a voice that has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, the late Eva Cassidy, and even Shawn Colvin-meets-Ani DiFranco, Marji Zintz is a solo vocalist/arranger/acoustic guitarist who has performed and recorded as a soloist and in duet settings in the jazz and folk genres with various bassists and also in larger ensembles. Marji has also worked in collaboration with improvisational vocalists in a mostly a capella recording and performance project called Sister Sound and currently is also currently one third of the trio GaiaWolf, performing original "music for the planet."

Marji has shared the bill with such diverse acts as Koko Taylor, Vance Gilbert, David Amram, Pete Seeger, sonia and disappear fear, Spook Handy, Tom Paxton, Jonathan Edwards, the Kennedys, and Robbie Robertson and has performed and/or recorded with Jim Kunkel, Joseph Pelletier, Jay Anderson, Mike Richmond, Vin Warner, Ron Wilson, Robert Weinstein, EC Lorick, Dawn Casteel-Lorick, John Marshall, Victoria Christgau, and Shula Ruth Weinstein.

Setlist

Marji interprets and covers a wide range of material crossing into several genres, from folk to rock to jazz, including Tom Waits, Jobim, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and regionally known and very gifted song writers, including internationally known songwriters such as Michael Fracasso and Eric Wood, and more regionally known artists such as Jim Lord, Jim Kunkel, and EC Lorick. Her songbook is as extensive as it is diverse, allowing her to perform easily for five hours without repeating herself.
