Biography

With Love and Light was formed to create a sensuous, groove-based ensemble that offers beautiful music. Mixing ethnic instrumentation, dual saxophones, and electonica with a cutting-edge production style, With Love and Light has created a distinct ethno-jazz sound that is both sophisticated and danceable.
The composer for With Love and Light, Martin Case, wanted to create an ensemble that would honor the rhythms of the past while keeping it relevant to today: to create a 'held' sonic space for meditation, dancing, and sensuous enjoyment.
With Love and Light is comprised of professional musicians residing in the Boston Area. Martin Case, Joseph Brogan, Joshua Mayo, Omar G, Jean Laing, and Steven Jackson work as composers, arrangers, and performers; Martin has his own studio where he composes and produces a variety of work for different clients. Martin has worked extensively in the world of dance, providing music for members of The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Bill T Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company, and the Mark Morris Group. Martin Case With Love and Light can also be expanded to accomodate a larger artistic vision.

Martin Case is a composer, producer, and performing musician. With his company, MartinCaseMusic, Martin creates music for dance, film and other multi-media experiences, both live and in the studio.

In creating music for dance, Martin’s client list includes the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the
Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, the Mark Morris Dance Group, the Paul Taylor Dance
Company, and Prometheus Dance. His expertise with music technologies has gained him international
consulting work with McGraw-Hill, and his multi-media/film works have partnered him with Patriot
Entertainment, Bija Bennett Productions and Tse Tse Fly Productions. Martin’s production work has created
numerous albums with artists such as Zieti and Dwight Graves.

The enduring theme of Martin’s work is to honor the musician’s function to create sacred sonic space for
meditation, now/no-thought, and sensuous enjoyment. These electro-acoustic hybrids offer acoustic
experiences with cutting edge production value.

The nature of this work has taken Martin to the Middle East, West Africa, South America, Europe,
and Asia. In Boston, Martin presently creates music for Harvard University, Boston Ballet, and the
Boston Conservatory.
