Biography
Hailing from Atlanta, Clap for Daylight's Greg Vilines, Alex Arnett, David Oliver, and Mitch Kiley are pushing their sound to the next level with the release of their new EP Fire Escape. Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Matt Goldman at Glow in the Dark Studios in Atlanta, the new album pushes the band to new heights of scale and musical maturity. After playing around the southeast for the last couple of years supporting their debut album Break Even, the band is excited about Fire Escape pushing their sound to the next level.
Clap for Daylight and Fire Escape features a musical flexibility and unique style that surpasses genre classification. The band's distinctive tracks speak a musical vocabulary that mixes soaring melodies, lush layers, and earnest lyrics that resonate with listeners immediately. The mix of progressive chord structures and melancholy sweetness echoes Death Cab for Cutie and Jeff Buckley while creating a driving, energized sound all their own that their fans have compared to OK Go or Radiohead.
Like all bands, they've had their shares of setbacks...shortly after completing their debut album, Greg's house burned down (thankfully just a day after submitting the final album files to be mastered). In 2011, the band's practice space was broken into, losing all their most expensive and best gear. Now that those incidents are in the past, the band is excited about letting the world hear their latest and greatest creation.
