The Vickers were born in 2007. In January 2008 they have been chosen for playing at the International Pop Overthrow (IPO), traveling music festival, for the Liverpool’s Cavern Club stage held in May. Their debut album "Keep Clear" was released 13th February 2009. The album was positively received by the most important national musical revues and international blogs and webzines. From March 2009 the band appeared in national magazines like GQ, and their songs are currently getting airplay on important radios like Radio RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana). Their first single video "The Only One" has been in heavy rotation on MTV and other national networks and it has partecipated in many international film festivals (Chicago Reel Shorts Festival, Queen's International Film Festival). After the debut album the band recorded the acoustic EP “Sofa Sessions”, released only for the web in May 2010. In the summer of the same year The Vickers played at the famous italian festival Italia Wave. The band always gave the best on stage in their live perfomances, they played in Italy over 100 shows in two years. They supported many european artists during their young career, John Power (The La's), Joy Formidable (UK), Theoretical Girl (UK), Eight Legs (UK). The band recorded the new LP called “Fine For Now” in autumn, released in February 2011. Eleven songs mixed by Steven Orchard (Paul McCartney, Pulp, U2, Iggy Pop) and mastered by Jon Astley (The Who, Stereophonics, Paul McCartney) that range from the recent british rock and the american independent rock tradition, all collected with consistency and an inspired songwriting. The album was released on July 20, 2011, in Japan, by Flake Records.

  The album is a home made cake in which the band mixes acoustic melodies, rock guitars and catchy refrains. The style is personal, but it reminds of the British and American tradition of the 60’s 70’s (Kinks, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and The Beatles, to mention just a few of them).
  Speaking of the Beatles, last May, David Bash, the founder of the international pop overthrow (famous itinerant pop festival), invited the Vickers to play at the Cavern in Liverpool. The same pub that saw the birth of the fab four.
  After a self production in 2006, the Vickers signed a contract in June 2008 with Foolica records and recorded their album in October 2008. The results are promising. Keep Clear is a light music disc, with no shame of being light. It’s the product of four guys who recognise their skills.
  The album has a direct and surprising impact.
  Their job is limpid, based on soft tones and solar atmospheres; with an accurate eye for the arrangements.
  Their characteristic is a clean and fresh sound, capable of bringing emotions. A sound on which they can work further to leave behind some imposing influences. But a sound that is never banal, as are instead other Italian productions.

  When their first self production ended up in the fangs of “We are Demo”, we gave them an "almost 7"; we compared them to the Pavement, the Libertines and Radiohead.
  However, after listening to their debut album, we should review our previous opinion. In fact, even if there still are resemblances to some of the mentioned bands, it is also true that there is much more behind the Vickers’ music.
  In this new year’s release we found some allusions to the sound of other bands such as: Thrills, Coral, Turin Brakes, Bluetones, Charlatans, Oasis, Blur, Pavement ( to mention only a few of them). A direction that goes beyond easy comments and says a lot about this talented and multitasked guys. Yes, one can easily jump at comparing them to other bands, but at the same time they are original enough to claim a sound in its own right.. More over “keep clear” is a definite step forward from their previous production, which was definitely worth it.
  12 tracks. Most of them with guitars, drums, bass and keyboard. Their greatest gift is their natural melodic appeal, together with a sparkling catchiness.
  A song writing stolen from the less banal brit-pop: the energy of Peter Doherty and colleagues in “here again”; an intrepid Bob Dylan in “I’ve got you on my mind”; the laziness of Neil Young in “I’ll wait” .
  “Keep clear” is a collection of simple gems, a game of musical arrangements that give the right balance to music and lyrics, showing a simple but well finished work.
  Definitely a piece of originality.

  They don’t seem like nice kids judging by the cover of their sophomore LP Fine For Now, but The Vickers’ sound is warm as a sunny Tuesday mornin.
  
  They’re also not a guy/girl duo, nor are they as British as those underpants.
  
  The Vickers is a dude quartet living in Florence, where it’s just about impossible to be dark and angry, because this is your view.
  
  No reverb here — for once — just nice Brit-poppy jangles with shades of Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend, and a Bob Dylan vocal drawl. Some of the commenting Italian public is POed about the familiarity of it all, but if you lobotomize that hipster side of your brain for 3.5 minutes, you’d tap your feet to the fun, solid indie rock. Even the critics can’t help but listen to the whole thing. At the very least, it’s a dope album cover.
