Biography
The natural sound created by its six members, all having their own musical nuances, is comfortable to the jazz audience while pushing the envelope towards a more experimental crowd. Where They Landed opts to do away with all vocals and let the harmonizing trumpet and saxophone ride on a sea of sound
"Why you should see them: They are percussion, bass, guitar, alto sax, keys and trumpet. They are a collective painting jazz, rock and shoegaze on their wall of sound, a "Broken Record" you can't turn off. It's a beautiful experiment."
– Rich Shivener with Metromix
"Take the more frenetic bits of Weather Report and the quieter passages from The Mars Volta and blend it with an ear toward experimentalism and you have Where They Landed. And to paraphrase the great Buckaroo Banzai, no matter where they landed, there you are.
Dig: Classical melodicism + lab Jazz curiosity = Ambient Space Jazz. (BB)"
- City Beat
