Biography

The Cedarsqueezers have just released their second CD "El Chupacabra" (August 2010). Produced by Mike Morgan, it features slide guitar virtuoso Lloyd Maines, Grammy Award winning producer of the Dixie Chicks multiplatinum CD "Home." Currently taking refuge in the Texas Hill Country, just a few country miles from that winding road they call the Devil's Backbone, the Cedar Squeezers reconnected about 6 years ago on one or the other's front porch for that time honored Texas tradition of homegrown music, beer and barbeque. Standing poised to carry on the tradition of real Texas music, "El Chupacabra" represents a "best of" selection of songs from four very seasoned singer/songwriters, a veritable showcase of rootsy Americana music, supported by a fine array of musical talent. Since its release, the Cedarsqueezers, have once again, demonstrated their broad appeal garnering radio airplay from Europe to Australia and all points in between...

  Our first CD "The Devil's Backbone" garnered airplay in rural area's of the Texas Hill Country and p...Our first CD "The Devil's Backbone" garnered airplay in rural area's of the Texas Hill Country and parts of Louisiana with virtually zero promotion. The CD which was originally going to be just a demo happened almost by accident. Financed with "beer money" on a shoestring budget, Mike Morgan, owner of The Zone Recording Studio, convinced the Squeezers to put out the demo as a CD on the strength of the songwriting alone. Says Mark Sherrod, "We were at Mike's New Years Eve bash and it was freezing cold, some folks decided to jump into the hot tub and we had the CD playing in the distance from the stereo in my pickup truck. Some girl asked who it was we were listening to, I told her it was my band the Cedarsqueezers. She asked for, and was given a CD, next thing I know my friends are calling me saying they've been playing "Devil's Backbone" on the radio. As it turned out that girl from the hot tub was a program director for one of the Americana radio stations up around Bandera. After that we were hooked..."
  

Setlist

Our typical set list consists of a great original selection of songs which range from dance hall two stepp'in to uptempo country and maybe a classic retro country inspired waltz. Commonly we will introduce new unrecorded material into the mix with older Cedarsqueezer favorites or a southern rock ballad. This aint Nashville Pop, its real country music.
