Biography
We love the Lord and we're looking for more than just a way to spend free time making epic hard music.
Born July 11, 2008, Katharsis is a project formed by Kim Boni and Joe Burek. The two with their love for their Father felt destined to give Katharsis their all and eventually picked up Travis Ankeny and David Corkery. Together the four of them built up a following in the Pittsburgh area and even made it out to Cornerstone 09' by invitation. Eventually co-founder Joe decided to leave, but he left a space for Jake Krasicki to gradually expand the band's skills and songwriting.
Katharsis is a melting pot of hardcore, punk, and numetal, giving everyone a little bit of home in their music. Between singer Kim's jazz/grunge influenced vocals and Travis' metal screams, the vocals create a new cacophony of sounds that are fresh in the sea of "underground." Along with this, the mixture of double petal and harmonized guitars bring something both new and familiar to the mix of this up-and-coming band.
These four were brought together because of their willingness to share G-D's love and get rid of misconceptions about hate in Christianity. Whether you come from a background of straight rock or bat cave, Katharsis brings and heart full of acceptance and a table full of influences to choose from.

8 songs is the norm. We have a few covers we do if we're given the time and we're working on new material as well. All of our songs are about 3.30 minutes long. So the whole set is a good 30 minutes.
