Biography

Scottmandu is the latest incarnation in the career of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Scott Sherman. From theatre soundscapes to multimedia, traditional folk to modern rock, performing solo and with numerous notable Canadian musicians, and producing and recording, over 30 years in independent music Scott has done it all.

Scott’s vast experience in a wide variety of genres makes him poignantly sensitive to those elusive elements that constitute a great song. His are melody-driven vignettes of the human condition, often subtly understated insights fueled by exceptional musicality. With strong footholds in both roots and rock genres Scott calls his current material 21st-Century Folk Rock. Though fully orchestrated on record, the music is often performed unplugged and acoustically centered.

Current projects include:

-RingTones, a classic folk-rock trio with Don Barber and Michael Roberts.

-(905) Blues, a genre-bending recording project with Juno winner James Paul of The Rogue Music Lab co-producing.

-Multimedia performance-art duo SCHLOSS with Peter Schweigel (Drums Along the Gardiner, Ratwurst)

-Travelog, an instrumental/ambient suite.

In 2009 a tour dubbed “The Scottmandu Revue” played to enthusiastic audiences in Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and British Columbia.
