Father and Son DUO Shows! Andrew and Zachari Smith are taking the opportunity to play some shows and tour together. Zach has finished his Unversity degree, so we get a chance to make some music together. It's pure music-making joy.

Andrew and Zachari Smith are a nice mix of folk, alt-country and tap-style guitar. Their show features excellent songwriting and engaging storytelling. Andrew and Zach are multi-instrumentalists; their show combines a variety of acoustic instruments including Guitar, Baritone, Dobro, Mandolin and Banjo. They toured Canada extensively in 2010 and will perform at the Medicine Hat Folk Club’s “Tongue on the Post Festival” and Memphis Folk Alliance in 2011.

BIOGRAPHY

Andrew Smith is one of a few Canadians to win the prestigious KERRVILLE NEWFOLK SONGWRITING COMPETITION and a "world class" tap style guitarist. It has been said that he "PLAYS LIKE DON ROSS (finger-style guitar champion) AND SOUNDS LIKE JAMES TAYLOR".
Andrew's live show is a mix of original Singer/Songwriter and innovative Instrumentalist material. He is a seasoned musician who has toured much of the world playing folk clubs, festivals and house concerts to enthusiastic audiences.

Andrew won the KERRVILLE NEW FOLK SONGWRITING COMPETITION on the strength of his songs 'Holes in the Night Sky' and 'Rite of Passage'

'Rite of Passage' received Honourable Mention at the MID ATLANTIC SONG CONTEST, and was short-listed for the INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING CONTEST.

'Do You Like It?' received Honourable Mention at the 2007 SINGER-SONGWRITER AWARDS.

Andrew's solo instrumental CD 'escape velocity' won him the OKANAGAN INSTRUMENTALIST OF THE YEAR award and received two nominations from 'JUST PLAIN FOLKS' MUSIC AWARDS, and 'The Pilgrimage' was short-listed for the INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING CONTEST.

Andrew also works as a producer out of his own studio in Kelowna, BC. He was awarded PRODUCER OF THE YEAR in the BC Interior, and recorded award-winning folk artist Jane Eamon's 'a different place' and 'deep water' CDs.
