Biography

At a young age Michael's musical career was beginning to take flight, until an ex-band member held him hostage at gun point. The ordeal lasted several hours, the gunman was killed, and there was a lengthy legal police inquiry into the incident that lasted months. When it finally was over, Michael couldn't touch the guitar.

After a few years he started again, picking up the pieces, and then he was diagnosed with cancer. The first year was the hardest. When he got through it, and his children came along, he was so grateful to be alive and have a family, he focused all of his efforts on providing for them.

One day when Sophie was 13 she asked her dad if she could learn to play guitar. He said "No. It will ruin your life!" Stubborn child that she was Sophie persisted, getting the same answer, for about six weeks. Finally, and I think Michael's sanity was a factor in this, he caved in and showed her a few things. Then he walked away, hoping she'd quit.
She didn't, and she pulled him in.
The rest they say is 'guitar-battling' history.

When playing as a duo, Michael & Sophie perform to programs and a visual video display, all of which were created by Michael Darwin.

Additional musicians, if needed, are hired per event.

All instruments on the cd are performed by Michael Darwin
except for Sophie's guitar solos.

Michael is also a classically trained pianist.

Radio airplay includes Arizona, Tennessee & Texas as well as internet radio stations.

Setlist

Michael and Sophie are "For those who love guitar", so a typical set involves a lot of guitar playing and battling between father and daughter.

All songs are backed by a large visual video display, which dramatically enhance the concert experience.

Primarily the music is originals with a few covers thrown in such as "House of The Rising Sun" and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place". Both of those songs are available to listen to or download on their website.

The covers that they do play have a unique 'Michael Darwin' arrangement done to them with competing guitar solos, solos performed in unison, etc.
