Biography

The Neighbors are a duo piano, singer/songwriter rock band. Formerly "ByNow" - the name change occurred when they tragically lost their keyboard player...to...whimper... marriage. Never wanting to experience such pain again, they decided not to replace her. Instead they purchased another keyboard and practiced diligently to over come their marital "bliss" fortune.
Now they must defy all logic as they each play two instruments (sometimes concurently), sing, harmonize, have a great time, and secretly wish they had more cowbell !

  THE GOOD-With Sarah Kaiser on keyboard and vocals, Adam Kaiser on drums and vocals and Rachel Kaiser on bass and vocals they are hoarding one of the hardest to find things in local music, good voices. Further separating them from the typical girl "paint by the numbers piano pop" is interesting musical stylings from arabian sounding riffs to what has been described as a "much less dreary dresden dolls" style piece. Their vocal harmonies and musical uniqueness set them apart from the the rest of the scene.
  
  
  THE BAD- There really isn't much to pick apart now, I could complain that their EP is super short (under 12 minutes) or that the production is not the best quality, but these are common for newer bands. The EP, however, was a charming and welcome listen
  
  RESULT-(5/5) A band worth throwing your support behind. I think a full length album from these guys could definetly be worth getting (if they can make it as listenable as the EP), keep your eyes on them.

With jumping, powerful melodies, strong beats, and a invigoratingly tight blend of vocals, The Neighbors proves conclusively that brother-sister songwriting duos aren’t all incredibly lame. Adam and Rachel Kaiser, both singers and both songwriters in Provo, UT, have been working on their first album, and the singles they’ve released give us enough reason to be impatient for more. Music critics nowadays generally lament that there’s nothing new under the sun, but The Neighbors seems to like pushing that envelope, if not by complete iconoclasm, then through eclectic and courageous synthesis. Nothing is held back, giving us all hope that there is more to say yet in Western pop music.

They have plenty of material to do longer shows.

When they do covers they do their own version of "Ring of Fire ," "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," and sometimes they perform "Viva La Vida" (Coldplay), "Leader" (Phantom Planet), and "Mad World" (Tears for Fears), At Last (Etta James).
