Biography

Toronto folk-pop singer-songwriter Jeanette Lee is in studio working on her third album, with Juno-nominated producer/musican Scott Dibble (Hemingway Corner). Think Gillian Welch meets Norah Jones meets Dave Matthews.

Jeanette has taken her time working on the third album: exploring and pushing boundaries: taking her writing in new directions, collarborating and co-writing with Scott, recording live off the floor, digging in the dirt for the emotion, and seeking to capture special performances. She expects to release the new album in 2011. Some bare, rough acoustic working demos are posted in this EPK.

“After a Dark Horse Year" was Jeanette's second record, a breezy, bare bones acoustic EP. The songs evoke starlit harbours, neon-lit bars and the still-wet ink of early morning papers. The EP title echoes the uneasiness of the time it was written: after 2002, the Black Horse Year of the Chinese lunar calendar. The track "Paper Dove" sums it up: hard news, broken promises and courage. “Paper Dove” was included on the sold out "Songs Under Starlight" charity CD compilation.

Jeanette's song "Belsize Park" (unreleased) won an honourable mention in the American Songwriter Magazine lyric contest in May/June 2007. Jeanette's self-titled solo debut album was a full-band pop/rock record, released in early 2005. Tracks from both of her discs have played on U.S. and Canadian conventional and internet radio, including CBC Radio One, radioioacoustic.com, mvyradio.com, the She Grooves Radio Show and the Women of Substance Radio (live365.com).

Camellia Records (formerly Moondog Music) is Jeanette's artist-owned record label. Her music is available on CDBaby.com, and also iTunes, eMusic, Napster, Rhapsody and other digital distribution services.
