Biography

For the Love of Sloane is a four piece original rock band from the biggest little state in the union, Rhode Island. FTLOS is vocalist Elese Morrone, guitarist Stephen Moniz, bassist Michelle Salgueiro, and drummer Jay Jefferson. They formed mid 2007 and have quickly become a family as much as a band that is hoping to help breath life back into the Providence music scene.

Each individual band member brings their heart and soul, as well as a wide range of influences to the song writing process, which helps in the originality and diversity of their sound. The band takes their time writing each song, trying to avoid the usual songwriting formulas and clichs while still writing songs with catchy hooks, driving beats, and memorable melodies.

FTLOS released the Bitter EP in 2008 and has since had a number of songs hold the number 1 position for weeks at a time on OurStage.com, including Bitter, Ghost, Dig Deeper, So What If..., and Drying Blue. Their EP is available on iTunes and has already had sales in the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Denmark, Germany, Turkey and Australia.

For the Love of Sloane are currently working on their first full length CD.

  For the Love of Sloane, the final band of the night, seemed to steal the show. Not only did their so...For the Love of Sloane, the final band of the night, seemed to steal the show. Not only did their songs have some great hooks, but the lead singer (who looked a little like Liv Tyler) could really sing. She may not have used her range as much as she could have, but her voice was still one of the band’s best aspects (complemented well by the music being played by the band, of course). Apparently, the crowd and the judges were also smitten with this act. Though it was surely a tough choice with such different bands being pitted against each other, For the Love of Sloane won this Semi-Finals show and are now headed to the Rock Hunt Finals April 4th at Lupo’s. They’ll be matched up against last week’s winners Baylock and The [Viennagram:] and Saturday night’s winner Fairhaven. Stay tuned for more info on the Finals show!

Songs such as "So What If" and "Bitter" and their set opener, "Drying Blue," show promise for Elese Morrone and crew. In terms of merch sales, FTLOS dominated, with fans sporting their shirts all over Lupo's, including Morrone's grandpa, wearing a purple Glo-necklace and black FTLOS tee. Nice. The female vocals and big power-pop hooks remind me of last year's victor, It Was the Best of Times (whose guitarist Bob Jack reports the band just returned from recording their debut full-length in Detroit), and though For the Love of Sloane understandably showed some nerves, there's no denying the band's songwriting ability.

Rocking riffs, powerful vocals and strong steel strings, FTLOS makes you sit up and take notice. Their musical stylings are stem across indie, punk, and rock, defying limits of classification for their blend of influences. This is a fiercely talented foursome that leaves you wanting more. And we definitely will book them again, and often.
