Biography

Green Corn Revival is the project of songwriter Jared Deck and wife, Jacy. Originally formed in the spring of 2009, GCR has been a collective of friends around Weatherford, OK, who have come together from time to time to create a cinematic soundtrack of Western Oklahoma life. They are currently working on their 2nd LP, due out in early 2013.

Jared wrote many the songs that would form "Say You're a Sinner", the band's first album, in fall/winter of 2008. His landscape of eclectic memories and experiences from his Western Oklahoma youth became the blueprint for a new sound, and a new project. Having been labeled Countrypolitan, Roots-disco, Cow-punk, Retro-Rock and the like by fans and press, the band prefers making up their own Western OK inspired genres, such as "Rodeohead", "Shoegraze", "Emoo", and the ridiculous list goes on.

These dustbowl kids hit the ground running in 2009, and have played across the nation, including many festivals, such as SXSW 2010 & 2012, NX35, Norman Music Fest, Tulsa International Mayfest, Sundance Access Film Music Festival, and several multi-state tours.

GCR has shared the stage with Wanda Jackson (as her band), The Heartless Bastards, Red Dirt Rangers, Ha Ha Tonka, Hot Club of Cowtown, The Watson Twins, Mary Catherine Reynolds, The Low Lows, Cotton Jones, Grandchildren, Buffalofitz, Somebody's Darling, and many more.

GCR's discography includes "The Oklahoma EP" (2009), and debut album, "Say You're a Sinner" (2010). Each was produced and recorded by Ryan Houck and Jared Deck in Houck's studio, North Broadway Studios, in Hydro, OK."Say You're a Sinner" (named for a line in the haunting eleventh track, disco-baptismal hymn, "Blue Water") has garnered reviews from popular music blog Twangville, Maverick Magazine (UK), Americana.UK, There Stands the Glass (premier Kansas City Music blog), NPR, and local love from the The Oklahoman, The OK Gazette, and Oklahoma Today, among others. The album was included in numerous Best of 2010 articles and lists, including, The Oklahoman, The OK Gazette, OKC's The Spy 105.3 radio, and numerous music blogs.

Say You're a Sinner - (debut full-length album) August 2010

...Climb into the backseat of our '66 Fairlane, and barrel down dusty county roads of youthful angst and trepid, irreligous musings; making your way back home to the way it always really was. The album is rightly divided into Pt. I and Pt. II, each section heralded by instrumental/choral tracks reminiscent of Marty Robbins disappearing into the sunset…but this dust bowl collective brings its own punk, indie rock, and alt-country influences to the project, with a sound like the sear of a branding iron...
