Biography
Suicide, betrayal, divorce, broken spirits and shattered hearts. Whether it is happening to her or around her, Kellie Lee was gifted with an inherent sense of how to capture the intricate and delicate vessels of the human condition.
Described by the media as a natural, Kellie Lee picked up her older brother’s guitar at the age of 16 and taught herself how to play her favorite songs. It wasn’t long before she was writing lyrics and creating her own melodies in her small hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas – where shortly thereafter she began playing for live local audiences and found her first set of fans.
As the claustrophobic feelings crept in, Kellie became ready to take her small-town roots and replant them elsewhere – hoping to fulfill her big-city dreams. At the age of 23, Lee packed her car and sowed new seeds in Orange County.
“It hasn’t been easy,” Lee said, “but I’m a fighter. I’ve been through a lot of troubling things in my life, and I think people can hear and relate to that in my songs. It’s been a rough road, but I just don’t give up. This dream – to speak to people through my music – has never gone away. It’s my calling in life.”
Kellie Lee’s debut album “Stereo Type” – featuring the hit singles “Soul in a Shell” and “Toxic City” – was released in 2010 and has been a huge success on iTunes. Lee’s powerful lyrics, enlivened vocals and raw vulnerability have created a growing buzz amongst Southern California’s talented singer-songwriter population.
With an affinity for the dark, Kellie Lee also flirts with beams of light at the end of the tunnel. Her poppy-folk single “Sweet Beauty” – a crowd favorite – was written when she was just 16 and is a standout, upbeat track on her debut album.
Lee has played in dozens of venues in Texas, central California, and Southern California – including the Iron Horse Pub in Wichita Falls, TX, House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, the noted Hotel Café in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s Whiskey A Go Go, the Majestic Ventura Theater, and MTV’s Eco Event in Beverly Hills.
Lee is currently sampling her latest tracks for audiences in Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange County and will be in the studio recording her new album this fall.
