Biography

Citing the diverse influences of Etta James, Bessie Smith, Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Herbie Hancock, Mavis Staples, Dr. John among others, Susan Wylde possesses a multi-faceted alto voice that she commands with authority.
She has been nominated for various Canadian independent music awards, an EWorld Music Award, various songwriting awards, Hamilton Music Awards - Blues Artist of the Year 2011 and Producer of the Year 2011, and is currently on the shortlist - to be considered for a nomination - Blues Album of the Year - 2012 Grammy Awards.
She is the creator/producer of Goddess Charity Events - raising thousands of dollars for various charities. A track from her last CD - Shambhala was selected for the globally released compilation disc "Absolute Voices II" that also features Norah Jones, Sarah McLaughlin, Sade, Alison Krauss and others. Shambhala created a buzz in Asia, sold well in Canada, USA and Europe and was nominated for an Ontario Independent Music Award.
Susan's latest CD - "In The Light" - co produced by Wylde and Juno winner Jack deKeyzer, contains 12 tracks equally split between a range of covers and her vibrant and witty originals
Susan has recently reached #8 - blues artists on Reverbnation and has reached #3 on the Reverbnation "Hot" charts - this chart draws from all international artists on the Reverbnation charts. "In the Light" is being played on blues/roots/jazz radio stations in over 25 countries across the globe - including Canada, USA, UK, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia etc. It has reached the top 20 on the "Roots Music Report", entered the Living Blues Chart,and has reached the top 10 on the Blues chart in France.

Susan has lived and/or performed in such culturally rich locations as Europe, Thailand, Hawaii, Japan and Cuba, USA, Canada, China, Bahamas. Susan is a classically trained pianist and a graduate of the Western Conservatory of Music. Her love of singing lead her into performing in musical theatre at a young age in Canada. Her previous CD, co-written with Eddie Bullen, is called ‘Shambhala’. The 14 tracks on this CD draw from blues as well as the jazz,pop,R&B. Susan’s songwriting and voice speak of clarity, vibrancy, emotional depth and soulfulness. "Not a copy act, she focuses attention on the individuality of her own artistic sensibilities. Susan's soulful voice, insightful lyrics and unique arrangements satisfy the senses" - Downbeat magazine. Shambhala has already been nominated for blues/jazz awards and many festivals in Canada and outside Canada have invited her to perform on their mainstage. This year has been great for Susan Wylde. Highlights are : performing in Japan, New Orleans,Miami, New York City,Hawaii, Korea and Cuba ,opening for Grammy Award winner Delfeayo Marsalis. Susan is the Creator, producer and artistic director for Goddess Charity Events. These events have raised thousands of dollars for women’s and children’s shelters and have helped World Vision and several environmental charities.
