Biography

What do you get when you invite Julie Andrews, Joan Baez, Alison Krauss, k.d. lang and Loreena McKennitt over for an evening?

Bridget Wolf's original music is a delightfully mystical mosaic of earthy folk songs, bluesy Broadway melodies, sensual and sultry torch songs, ambient new age piano instrumental solos; light-hearted, comedic songs as well as poignant story/songs to inspire social action.

Bridget is a singer/songwriter who plays piano, keyboards, hand drums and other percussion instruments. She can even dance! Her training in classical music and love of folk, pop, jazz, blues, Broadway and movie theme music infuses her songs and instrumental compositions.

As a professional, independent, solo musical artist, Bridget performs her original music as well as standards of popular and sacred music, teaches private music lessons, teaches songwriting to classes of school children and leads Creative Expressions workshops.

She collaborates with other musicians and artists on recordings, in concerts, on cable TV and at festivals.

Bridget's piano instrumental "I'll Never Forget You" on her CD "Earth Song: In Beauty" is a Finalist in the Instrumental category of the UK Songwriting Contest and ranked in the top 2% of the 6,000 songs in the contest. Two songs on her new CD release "Love Transforms" are semi-finalists in the same contest. Her song "Let's Make the Difference" is a semi-finalist in the Adult Contemporary category, and her song "Life Is Precious" is a semi-finalist in the Christian / Faith category. Both songs
ranked in the top 23% of the 6,000 songs in the contest.

The Ashland Daily Tidings made a video of Bridget performing "Let's Make the Difference" on Monday, Sept. 14 at the Tidings Cafe! The story was published on the front page of the newspaper on Thursday, Sept. 17 !

Bridget studied piano and voice from many teachers in the U.S., Canada and Rome, Italy. In 1984 she graduated with a BA degree in music performance from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Her influences include Joan Baez, John Lennon, Elton John, J. S. Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven and many, many others.

She performed on Cable TV in New York City on several programs including "The Inquiring Naturalist" and "Music for the Earth." Her "Song of the Rising Sun" has been used as background music on numerous cable TV programs of "BARK for Mt. Hood" in Portland, Oregon.

Producer Arthur Aday at MCTV15.org invited Bridget to sing and drum on his program Arthur Talks, A Day in Telos 3 at the TV station located at College of The Siskiyous in Weed, California, on Wednesday, May 20.

In January 2010 Bridget and her music were featured on two TV programs "Embracing My Gifts" and "Soul of the Songwriter" with producer Nancy Bloom at Rogue Valley Community TV station in Ashland, Oregon.

In November 2010, Southern Oregon Songwriters Association selected Bridget as their featured artist for the taping of two half-hour TV shows at Rogue Community TV station in Ashland, Oregon.

Her song "Healing Time" was published in "Songs for Peace" magazine in New York City.

She has shared her musical gifts in numerous coffeehouses, concert halls, churches and at festivals from coast to coast in the United States. Bridget has also performed her music in Canada and Europe.

Bridget has composed over 111 songs on a variety of themes.

All of Bridget's songs are copyrighted and are in the release process. She is receiving notable recommendation and grants with her songwriting
skills including a grant from the Puffin Foundation in 2009 for her Songs for Change project.

She is encouraging new and seasoned artists to contact her so she can work along side them to develop these songs for commercial and
spiritual purposes. She has a unique ability to hear the music in her head yet fashion in the style appropriate to the individual artist. Her large repertory is looking to find a home among the stars. All artists are encouraged to contact and share their goals. If your heart is pure, she will help you find a place in the industry with the help of her songs.

Bridget incorporates music and the love of the art in all her life activities as minister, healer, writer and dancer.

Bridget serves diverse spiritual communities with her interfaith music ministry. She sings songs in many languages from many faith traditions at her concerts for peace. Her expanded view of spirituality has led to adventures into earth-centered traditions, Native American ceremonial traditions, indigenous as well as traditional religions of the world. Bridget is a frequent guest minister at churches that welcome her expanded spiritual heart and vision.

With a deep heart felt love and need to spread light and sharing, she has written a book of love poems, several children's books and is writing a book on her journey back to health.

  For Bridget Wolf of Talent, writing and performing her award-winning music is a doorway to feeling more connected to life and nature — with lyrics that are so optimistic and encouraging that she's been welcomed to sing them in many Unity Churches.
  
  Wolf, 42, recently released her second CD, "Love Transforms" — and her song "I'll Never Forget You," a piano solo inspired by a breakup, was chosen as a finalist in the instrumental category of the UK Songwriting Contest, meaning it finished in the top 2 percent of 6,000 entries.
  
  Two of her other songs were honored. "Let's Make the Difference" was a semi-finalist in the Adult Contemporary category and "Life is Precious," inspired by a friend considering suicide, was a semi-finalist in the Christian/Faith category. They are on her just-released CD "Love Transforms."
  
  Semi-finalist means they ranked in the top 30 percent.
  
  "I'm so excited! I don't have words for how I feel. I burst into tears when I found out," says Wolf.
  
  The soft-spoken and enthusiastic Wolf keeps a "Measure What You Treasure" chart in her living room, per the instructions of her business coach, noting that, since July 1, she sold 32 CDs, did 18 performances and had 587 people attend her performances - at the Eugene Saturday Market, and New Thought Churches, such as the Center for Spiritual Living in Central Point and Unity Churches in Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Corvallis and Bandon.
  
  Wolf, a native of Minnesota and a music graduate of that state's Carleton College, found her "uplifting and empowering" approach to music from parents, who taught her those ways of living and, despite their own upbringing in poverty, devoted themselves to travel, concerts, dance and music lessons and other enrichments for their children, she says.
  
  "My parents helped me with optimism. My dad has a truly optimistic outlook. My mom was a painter who taught us to look more deeply."
  
  Wolf's haunting piano solos, especially one called "Autumn 83," bring back instant memories of the Wyndham Hill instrumentals by George Winston. Composed before she heard that label's popular works, it is "deeply connected with the pulse of life, with living, breathing nature and life force energy.
  
  "That music was a wave"»that nourished people at a really deep level and still does."
  
  Her "I'll Never Forget You," from 1993, is an extension of that tradition and is the song most of her followers have listed as their favorite, Wolf said. It's also been used in local dance classes.
  
  Wolf says her main influences, whose footprints can be found through her music, have been a wild mix of Julie Andrews, Joan Baez, Enya, Alison Krauss and Loreena McKennitt — and the result could variously be called "earthy folk songs, bluesy songs for evening, sexy, sultry torch songs and chanting-drumming."
  
  "I love all kinds of music, even rap songs," said Wolf singing a few bars of her rap song "You Gotta Do Your Thing."
  
  "I will write in any style that moves me," says Wolf. Her penchant for writing church-suitable music reminds her of Bach, who "was a great improviser, who composed church music every week. During meditation in church, I feel it and know where to go for the keys."
  
  The lyrics of her inspirational songs are straightforward positive affirmations of life.
  
  "Let's Make the Difference" has these words: "I choose to be the change I wish to see in the world today / I choose to unite with all loving hearts / I choose to share all the gifts I've been given / I choose to live my life fully now / Cause all life matters! Yes it does."
  
  Her "Life is Precious" says, "It's a miracle of creation / And you, you've been made specially / None can take your place / There is only one you."
  
  Wolf says she's a healer and uses music in her sessions to reach and release feelings at a deeper level. She also gives music lessons and is available for performances by calling 512-8862. Her Web site is www.bridgetwolf.com.
