Biography

Moises de Moya (bassist, vocalist) and Cesar Pineda (drummer, vocalist) had the idea of forming a band with a couple of compositions that they had made. They joined forces for the first time on a rehearsal for a “talent show” they performed with Federico Lopez (guitarist), synthesizing for the first time the recipe of the sauce.

They brought their influences to the table trying to mold a sound presenting themselves in local bars, talent shows, parties, stages, and television. In March of 2007 Teriyaki released their first album “No quiero, No puedo” in the venue Casa de Teatro with 10 diverse songs included in the album.

After the album release, Teriyaki performs as the opening act for the latin rock icon Gustavo Cerati on april 26 of 2007 exposing themselves for the first time to a wide rock audience. The band continued promoting their album that same year and then took a break of the scene to reinvent the recipe of the teriyaki sauce.

At the beginning of 2008 Moises traveled outside of the country to study music production, and audio engineering, while Federico focused in polishing his Japanese language skills, guitar playing and finishing high school. They took their time evolving, modifying the recipe and composing new songs. They performed a couple of shows for the fans, and now they’re back with chopsticks, a new recipe and a new album titled “Salsa Nueva”. This album is available to the public through itunes.com and cdbaby.com since December 15 2010, which was released at Falafel Mediterranean Foods at the Colonial zone of Santo Domingo.

The music video of the song “Salsa Nueva” is the most recent video the band has released, it is also titled like the album, and in essence is a song that fusions reggaeton, rock and mambo guloya.

The song “C’est la vie” of the album “No Quiero, No Puedo” is part of the soundtrack of the movie “Mi Novia está de madre”. The song “Pilhon” included in the “Salsa Nueva” album has been modified to be included in the movie “Lotoman”, in the moment in which Raymond Pozo and Miguel Céspedes win the 100 million pesos lottery.

The songs contained in the album are Salsa Nueva, Ya No Tengo Corazón, Crecer, Magdalena, Pilhon, Sangre Espesa, Tengo El Temor, Calor, Memorias, Si Tú No Estás. In only ten (10) songs Teriyaki covers generes such as rock, merengue, reggae, ska, bossa nova, bachata and reggaeton.

The format of the album is not the traditional compact disc; it is a recycled paper card with a code that will allow to completely download the album directly to your computer. The purpose of this new format is to avoid manufacturing a CD to preserve the environment.
