Biography
The Nicholas James Band from Ct was formed the summer of 2010, when brother’s Nicholas (eighteen) and Lucas (sixteen) James decided to add a bassist to their indie rock sound. Nicholas had started as a solo acoustic performer at sixteen, and began to be booked into many of the indie music venues in the lower eastside of NYC. He began as a pianist but taught himself guitar so he would have an easier time getting booked into clubs. Even though only in his teens it was his voice that was his calling card. People began to compare his sound to the likes of, Ray Lamontagne, Jeff Buckley, and even Johnny Cash. Late in 2009, while home from college he decided to enlist his younger brother Lucas, a drummer, to join him on stage for an upcoming show at Sullivan Hall. The show was amazing and the Nicholas James Brother Band was formed. After playing around as a duo Nicholas & Lucas enlisted Craigslist to find a local bassist. They found Kevin Clymer a great bassist, a college student, and at twenty the oldest of the trio. The chemistry was obvious from the first jam session. They played their first official gig at Arlene’s Grocery as “The Nicholas James Band”. Their style is eclectic & cool. They are indie pop, rock, blues and everything in between.
