Biography

Kelly Newton-Wordsworth is an award winning singer/songwriter, activist and recording artist from Australia. For the last 13 years she has been performing internationally. She is also a wife and mother of three children and has spent many years farming bio-dynamically (using no chemicals or artificial fertilisers) with her family in Western Australia.
Her music has won awards worldwide, including 'Environmental Song of the Year', for Australia with her song 'One World, One Planet'. She has performed in peace concerts in India, the UK, the US, she did a thirty city concert tour of Germany, sang to half a million people in Thailand, and in March 2009 was flown to the US by Asia Satellite TV to sing in a concert in Los Angeles.

  "Last year, Williams biodynamic farmer Kelly Newton-Wordsworth found herself regularly singing for h..."Last year, Williams biodynamic farmer Kelly Newton-Wordsworth found herself regularly singing for half a million people at Peoples Alliance for Democracy (PAD) rallies in Bangkok.
  Her journey from the farm to stardom in Thailand began in 2007 when she met her music manager.
  What she thought would be a one-off trip to perform for him in Thailand turned into regular performances in the country.
  Her Thai success led to her being included in the line-up for the American leg of the Live Earth concerts in 2007. She was invited to write a song for King Rama IXs 80th birthday the first foreigner to do so. She performed the song, Long Live the King of Thailand, for the king and queen and half a million people.
  This led to her becoming the only non-Thai performer at PAD rallies against the government and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. She also made many appearances on Thai television.
  I love the Thai people, I love Thailand and I love the king. Hes an amazing man, Mrs Newton- Wordsworth said.
  Many Thai people have written to me, from all over Thailand and the world, thanking me for what Ive done; singing my songs for their king and for taking a stand for him in a situation that was dangerous. Their generosity has been second to none.
  This year her story has taken a new turn and she has found herself travelling across the US. She is now based in New York, continuing to spread her messages of hope and peace for the Thai people. But Bob Dylan she is not.
  The protests were the peoples way of rising up against corruption. My songs focus on the King of Thailand and my contribution was for a free Thailand. My songs uplift, she said.
  Im not a political artist and I dont write protest songs. There is a need for all people in the world to express a truth, and I think I do that.
  Mrs Newton-Wordsworth turned down a chance to sign with Mushroom Records in 1992, preferring to raise her children and concentrate on farming.
  What drew me to Williams was falling in love with my husband, William, she said. When he asked me to marry him, I went to live with him on his property there, which we farmed for 21 years. We now have a global life.
  She plans to continue her mission from God for the foreseeable future.
  It is not really relevant how long I am away from the farm. It is what I am doing in my life that is relevant, she said."
