Biography

LAWANDA MICHELLE is the new soulful voice emerging from the ranks of Brooklyn’s Finest Divas. Her deepest emotions shine through each song as if it were her only means of expression, painting a perfect picture with honesty. LaWanda lands on the music scene marking the world with her magic formula of success — a melodic voice cooing timeless tunes of life’s ups and downs. Her new Album PUZZLE on TSOB Records Label is an emotionally genuine and painfully honest personal testament that is turning heads the way of this Brooklyn-bred artist. “I’m excited about my career with TSOB Records, being with an independent label with the power of major distribution, I’ve accomplished so much in a year. I have an album out, I’ve released four singles, I’m touring and doing shows, and I’m encouraged to grow each and every day as an artist,” says LaWanda Michelle.

Although born in Texas and raised in Atlanta until 7 years old, LaWanda Michelle considers Brooklyn, NY her home. It was in Brooklyn that she developed her musical tastes and interests and discovered her passion for music. As an avid lover of all genres of music ranging from opera to reggae, R&B and hip-hop, LaWanda’s eclectic musical taste can be heard in her music. Her unique style can be noted as “Street and Sweet,” which adds an extra dimension to her artistry. LaWanda provides a combination of mellow vocals, direct and sassy lyrics, and deep elements of soul, hip-hop, and R&B — which can be heard over heavy hitting tracks. Lawanda is quick to point out that everything she listens to has inspired her musically in some way. “I write from a place of experience. I draw from any and everything around me…everything I see, I hear, my own personal experiences and those of others, it can all be heard and felt in my music,” she says.  

Lawanda Michelle’s musical ambitions continue to abound daily and she will stop at nothing to make sure her voice is heard and her music reaches the masses. More than just a singer and songwriter, she epitomizes the definition of artist. When asked what the ingredients to her success are, Lawanda casually replies “Lots of endurance, hard work, long hours and raw talent. Where I am now in my career is a very exciting time, and I'm going to continue to give my music and my fans all I have.”

In Classifieds, I’m interviewing my potential candidates and I’m pretty blunt about my requirements and what it will take to be with me,” LaWanda says with a chuckle. LaWanda Michelle’s perfect candidate doesn’t mind working overtime and long nights. He’s fine and always on time and has to be really qualified to be with her! Singing “Let me see your resume.
