Biography

A TRUE ELECTRIC BLUES-ROCK BAND

Front-man/Harmonica Ace Otto Lenz for years has been lighting up the Northeast and Canadian Blues scene with explosive performances! Otto is teamed up with a blues master in his own right, the Chicago Blues Guitarist Mike Patterson. The Band is backed by a rock-ste IIIady Rhythm Section provided by Matt McManamon on Bass and Rich Blake on Drums!

The Maine Blues Society sums it up pretty good!!!
In the Mar/April 2007 edition of the Maine Blues Society Newsletter, their President Phil Whipple wrote:
"Frontman Otto Lenz is a world-class harp blower."

Son Henry--who was just awarded Blues Instrumentalist of the Year for the United Kingdom--also puts it simply: "Otto's the best harmonica player I know, period."

Blues Matters, the most widely distributed blues magazine in the United Kingdom, wrote: "Otto's tracks should be used as a harmonica clinic for anyone serious about the instrument."

Otto’s playing has been described as "tongue twisting" by Dirty Linen, as "top notch" by Blues Revue, and his wild dance floor antics and powerful stage performance have been described as "masterful" by Blues Audience.

After putting in years studying traditional approaches to playing the blues, front-man Otto Lenz went on to train extensively with the harmonica jazz legend Howard Levy (of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones). During his youth, on any given night Otto could be spotted sitting in with blues giants such as Kenny Neal, Sherman Robertson, Phillip Walker, and many others. Otto has since gone on to forge his own cutting edge style with Ottomatic Slim, a band that has been met with wide critical acclaim playing festivals and night clubs throughout the Northeastern U.S., Alaska, and Canada. With it's own unique blend of masterful harmonica and guitar, Ottomatic Slim has a double barrel - one two punch - whammer jammer show that will leave you speechless !!

Ottomatic Slim has opened for numerous national shows, including John Lee Hooker, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Lonnie Brooks, Son Seal, and Joanna Conner. Ottomatic Slim has also played overseas at various venues including the London Jazz Festival. Ottomatic Slim Headlined at the Carleton International Maximum Blues Festival in Quebec--sharing the stage with Eddie Shaw and The Wolfgang and other legendary acts.

Their album titled "Ottomatic Slim" has enjoyed national airplay on commercial radio and National Public Radio, as well as college radio.

Alex Henderson writing for the All Music Guide gave high praise to the Ottomatic Slim album: "Ottomatic's work is far from a carbon copy of the amplified Chicago blues. . . This is a noteworthy effort that illustrates Ottomatic's ability to combine blues, rock, soul and funk."
