Biography
A South Paw who plays right strung, a former hair band member and a drum teacher make the up and coming band Benny Vandersmith.
Cancer almost killed their lead guitarist and took half his shoulder but that trial is also what brought these three together.
Jeff Smith had just given up his beautiful SoCal lifestyle and success in corporate America for simplicity, but what he found was a new lease on life. With boxes still unpacked an unexpected knock at the door revealed a local musician and first drummer ,Wayne, and BV was born. They later added Bassist Craig Vandermeer to complete the trio.
At first it was just therapy, but after a second round of deadly cancer, what did he have to lose? Jeff took his business savvy and put it to work on promotions and recording. He had a second chance at life and he wanted to make a difference.
The three work together well. One offers a song and the creativity flows until they’re all satisfied. The result is an awesome sound with a wide appeal. The lyrics are deep and dig right to your soul.
