It may be a new era in the way we purchase and discover music and it also maybe a new era in American history, but as far as this British-born musician sees it, there’s no time like the present for everyone, worldwide, to do their part for change. And Cerose is all about change and taking chances to see that change through.
Growing up on the hard, cold streets of Brixton, South London, Cerose began to express his intimate feelings about love, life, and his responsibilities as a man living in inner-city London early on by ‘spitting bars’, an English term for rapping. He began to hone his skill, develop his delivery, and master his lyrical arsenal, preparing to step out and accomplish all his dreams of making it in the musical arena on an international level.
Inspired by 2pac, Bob Marley, The Beatles and Biggie Smalls, to name a few, Cerose spent his free time penning lyrics, while trying to make ends meet. “If it weren’t for music, I don't know where i would be right now. Music is the only thing that really gives me something to aspire for: making a connection with other people. Music is my only tool in life’s battles.” Self-conviction propelled Cerose to attain two very important milestones in his development as an artist: the underground’s respect for his prophesized lyrics and a true connection through his storytelling abilities with the everyday listener.
Cerose also has a great melodic voice and in each chorus he harmonizes in a tone that will capture the emotion of any audience.
After releasing two debut mix-tapes, he was featured on the first-ever UK DVD Mix-tape, ‘Welcome to Borough 6’ and that’s when things began to heat up. Cerose was quickly asked by established Hip Hop artist Taz to bless his album, ‘Analyze This’ on two tracks. This, in turn, led to a national tour, during which the crowd’s reception confirmed to Cerose that his words were both appreciated and wanted. More collaborations came with a host of UK Hip Hop greats, including: Asher D (from 50cent's “Get Rich or Die Trying” movie & fame), Mike GLC, among many others.
In March 2010, Cerose teamed up with longtime childhood friend, Dre, to form an independent label, London Ent, which today boasts not only a rooster of up-and-coming international acts but a group of outstanding, foreword-thinking producers as well.
In the fall of 2010, this Brixton-boy headed to New York to work with different producers & artists to refine his sound: the result pushes the limits in so many directions as Cerose reaches out to a worldwide audience: “Touring & making music with different producers from different parts of the world showcases my versatility. I can make street music all day long because I’ve lived it, but I want to make music that connects around the world.”
During his time in NYC Cerose has been featured on a few major artists projects like Lumidee & French Montana.
In the past year Cerose has been touring the US and Europe with Platinum Artist Lumidee and is now ready to captivate the world with his talent, sound and very original style.
The Cerose debut Album 'Outside The Box' will be available early 2012 & is shaping up to be a masterpiece.
From the recession-buster, hook-laden “City Soleil” and the gutsy, rock-anthem “Rule the World” to the thought-provoking “Raindrops”, Cerose presents art for a generation aching for change.
