Artist Information

Biography

Sarah Blacker’s music is a unique blend of acoustic rock, folk, and jazz with stand-out vocals and quirky yet catchy songwriting, that set her apart from other female singer/songwriters in her genre.

Sarah Blacker is a part-time Music Therapist and full-time touring singer/songwriter. She recently released a brand new EP, ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ to sold out crowds at (2 shows) Club Passim in Cambridge, MA. She recently won the title of 2011 My Rural Radio ‘Artist of the Year’ and has also been nominated by Limelight Magazine as singer/songwriter of the year, and as a nominee for female performer of the year in the New England Music Awards.

Blacker is currently touring primarily as a duo with Eran Shaysh on percussion and vocals, and their magnetic stage-presence and energetic live shows leave people with blurry eyes, warmed hearts, and a head-full of melodies that resound. Blacker has shared the stage with the likes of Sara Bareilles, Jason Isbell, the Wood Brothers, Carbon Leaf, Anais Mitchell, Lucy Kaplansky and more.

Her unique voice, intelligent lyrics, pop-sensibility and quirkiness have perked the ears of many listeners both nationally and internationally – as she just recently toured Germany performing at sold out festivals throughout the country. She also made a splash at SXSW 2012, as part of several showcases, and frequently performs at festivals and about 50% of her gigs at house concerts nationally. In 2010/2011 she was the face/voice of the Boch Subaru "Ooh ooh it's love," regional radio and TV commercial campaign thanks to her song, 'Smell of Caramel' being voted for by fans online, and then chosen by Ernie Boch himself.

She accompanies herself on the guitar, ukulele and mandolin, and reminds listeners of Feist, Regina Spektor, and Joni Mitchell. She has independently released 3 CDs, to rave reviews both online and on-air.
