Biography

In the months leading up to the year 2002, Whole In One was formed by 5 high school students in Brooklyn, NY. When things first started, there were three; John Amato (guitar), Gary DiVietri (guitar), and Ricky Diffendale (vocals). John and Gary were both self taught guitarists, and Ricky had never sung outside his room, or the shower. Zach Thomas, who was an acquaintance of the band, eventually joined the band as the drummer, and after things with their fist bass player didn't work out, Jesse Staub joined W.i.O. as the bass player. The band practice for a few monthes and played their first show on February 9th, 2002 in an elementary school cafeteria. In the monthes that followed, Gary left the band for personal reasons, Zach was kicked out over creative differences, and Jesse went away to college in Florida. Many monthes went by, and John and Ricky tried to keep busy. They worked on some acoustic stuff but it just wasn't the same. Something was missing. Enter Ralph Savercool. The guys met Ralph at a show that Rick's sister's band was playing. He metioned that he played the drums, but John and Rick never gave him info. However, Ralph would eventually come into contact with W.i.O. through a friend of the band, would try out, and turn out to be just what John and Ricky were looking for during all the monthes since Zach was kicked out. Ralph quickly caught on to the band's songs and Whole In One was back playing shows in no time. However Ricky was now singing and playing bass guitar as well. Something was still missing, and soon after Ralph had become part of the band, Mike Opromalla joined the band as the rhythm guitarist. That's the story on how the band was formed. So far it has been a long ride, but the band, and all who know them agree that it was all for the best. Whole In One is now better than ever, combining influences of pop, punk, rock, hard rock, metal, country, and oldies in to their music, while pouring their heart and soul into every show they play. High energy performances, catchy guitar riffs, and lyrics from the heart are just three of the many things that W.i.O. is known for. There are so many that believe that Whole In One is the "1 in a thousand band" (Mr. Red Man from the WGBB Mr. Red Man Music Show, in Amityville, Long Island) that has what it takes to make it. Only time will tell on that, but there is no denying that there are many great things to come for Whole In One......
