In May '09 Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce hit the scene. There had been something missing in Phoenix. There were all these great bands and talented players, but why wasn't anyone bringin' the rare groove funk & soul? It was time to change all that. Time to bring back an era when players could play, singers could SANG and people came to a show to get down! Time to bring back the sounds of STAX & Muscle Shoals and to hearken back to the artists who were the REAL soul legends and don't get the credit they deserve! Ladies like Marva Whitney, Vicki Anderson, Lyn Collins, and soul legends like Dyke & The Blazers, Same & Dave, and Wilson Pickett just to name a few! How come people don't BRING IT like that anymore? Well, damnit, it's a new day! Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce are bringin' the rebirth of the rare groove to the people. While bands like Sharon Jones & the Dapp Kings, The Mighty Hannibal, The Budos Band and all the Daptone Records artist's are leading the rare groove revolution on the east coast, Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce has poised itself to join the revolution on the west coast! In less than three short years Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce has opened for Daptone's own The Budos Band, the legendary Gil Scott-Heron, Breakestra, B-Side Players, Orgone, The Aggrolites and the Love Me Nots, to name a few.. They have played major festival stages and shared the stage with headliners like Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Berlin, Joan Jett and more. Not to mention, continually playin' to packed houses all around Phoenix. Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce are currently working on original material for their first full length album expected to be released this year. Look out ....Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce is 12 pieces of soul and funk that's about to tear the roof off!!!
