"WARRINGTON, ENGLAND"

Georgia will be on the minds of the town's music fans this weekend when an acclaimed American songbird ensures that Warrington remains nothing but blue, The Sue G. Wilkinson band, straight from Atlanta, USA, descends on Warrington's Rhythm & Blues club tomorrow, Friday, to herald her unique brand of groove blues.

Fresh from a highly praised set at the Burnley Blues Festival, Sue G.'s vocals have been likened to the enchanting lilts of Sheryl Crow and Aretha Franklin, giving the listener a glimpse of real Americana music, with momentous lyrics and stomping acoustic accompaniment.

Sue was first discovered at the tender age of six, making her debut public performance in a downtown Baptist church when she moved the watching organist to tears. The evidently emotive crooner is now a regular in the Atlanta Arts Festival and has made serious sound waves over in Japan, with reviewers saying: "Wilkinson is entirely capable of slowing it down to create a fully emotive, beautiful ballad, channelling Carole King, Janis Joplin, and Bessie Smith in her soulful vocals.

GUTSY - "The band of drums, guitar and bass entwine with her gutsy vocals and stand out piano, as Sue G. Wilkinson has shown us what it means to be a woman of soul." Ray O'Hare if Warrington's Rhythm and Bklues club, added: "She's backed by a full American band and a voice that can go from Kate Bush falsetto, to deep gravely tones. And her piano solos are major highlight."

This virtuoso performer is currently in the middle of a hectic UK tour, with gigs recently wrung out in Aberdeen and Dundee, before moving to the northwest to give a big splash of female empathy.

This will be a great night for lovers of blues and R&B, so be early to avoid disappointment.

"Muzikman's Sound Script"

Muzikman's Sound Script:
"Wilkinson still reigns queen on this brilliant project... she adapts the lush linger of Tori Amos and Kate Bush, only to rise to a level above these youngsters. The title track [Sympatico] is at once piercing yet mellow, languid yet pulse pounding, and undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous cerebral pieces I've ever heard."

Bio

Cypress South the musical duo had a dream! The premise was this: What if they took their lush, powerful, vocal ambient music reminiscent of Pink Floyd, Sade, and Hearts of Space and paired it with a mesmerizing, one of a kind imagery created to sync in perfect real time with their music. Then carry that unique experience to venues seeking a thought provoking, positive, sophisticated performance.. With a little research and stroke of luck they heard about the new full dome projectors in planetariums around the world and knew immediately that THIS was the perfect place to bring their live shows!! Their contact with Minolta lead to integrating Cypress South's technology with the new full dome projector technology to create an exciting new way to experience music! And that is the way dreams morph into reality!!

The Music- Cypress South is an immersive multimedia experience involving ambient, vocal driven music, combined with live digital imagery. While Cypress South's music has an ambient quality; it is not purely meditative in content. Being vocal driven, there are actual songs with verses, choruses, and engaging lyrics to stimulate the listener. The music is performed by the duo of Sue Wilkinson and Michael Cady. However, the instrumentation, and the use of a loop station, conspire to generate much more music than would ever normally be associated with a duo Sue Wilkinson uses her keyboard to create drum tracks, recurring motifs, and sonic beds, over which she will then play other parts, including solos. Even more striking are her vocals. She sings with an incredibly clear and powerful voice, and with the help of the looper, will create live and on the spot, one or more vocal tracks; which she then will harmonize along with in real time.

Michael Cady's main instrument is a 7-string bass which Michael helped design and custom. He records a bass line and then plays the melodies or solos when the created loop is replayed. He may bang on the strings to create a drum loop. Michael also used an Ebow, or electronic bow to create a bowed string instrument effect, and will layer looped tracks to create a string section Michael sits on a Cajone, a box drum, and uses it to create percussion loops as well. The music that transpires is all original and unique to Cypress South with a few choice covers that work well in a planetarium setting. A couple of their favorites are a rousing version of 2001: A Space Odessey as well as Don McLean's Starry Starry Night. You might also hear CS's version of Bob Marley's Stir It Up.

The Imagery- Cypress South uses various video clips; which are ethereal, color shifting, and geometrical in nature, and brings them in at opportune moments in concert with the music. While the clips are playing, we manipulate them live to create a mesmerizing visual experience, that is unique to each performance! We can tailor the raw clips to the specs of any planetarium to create the optimal visual impact inside the dome!
