Biography:

Born October 9th, 1981 near Santa Cruz, California and beginning a soul-full journey through the sounds of Motown early on, Robert Meade has lived on the East coast (NYC) and the North West for the past 8 years. He has been writing and recording songs for over 10 years with lyrics speaking of new hope and something to come.

Robert has performed and worked with quite a few musicians over the years including: Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, Richie Cannata of Cove City Sound Studios in New York City, Everest of Vapor Records, Don Latarski of Crescent Records and James Book of the Flies and Top Secret Records.

Performing at Hayward Field and labeled as “One of Eugene’s favorite Bands”, Robert’s band ‘CAMBIO’ (active 2006 – 2010) has opened for the national act “Everest” and performed at the W.O.W. Hall in Eugene a number of times. The band independently released their first and final full-length disc on May 31 2009, taking to the road on a north west in support for it’s release but not before attracted the endorsement of the Eugene brewing company, Ninkasi, who funded the initial pressing, tour posters and merchandise.

Robert decided to hang up his electric guitar and take a break from his band, ‘CAMBIO’ in August of 2010. He has since been able to focus on a solo career which he has been booking and touring under, non-stop for close to two years. He covers eight to eleven states in two to six week stints with a performance every night.

Robert has six discs out of print and a seventh on it's way. ("Cambio" 2009) He is putting together a collection of new material for your listening pleasure, thought to be released in the summer of 2011.

  With two stellar shows on Saturday, it may still feel a little like Christmas in Monterey for live music fans.
  Singer-songwriter Robert Meade – who plays the London Bridge Pub at 9:30pm – received a random call from Beach Boy Al Jardine in 2003. A rough demo of Meade’s music somehow landed in the rock legend’s lap and he liked it.
  “[Jardine] put me in touch with a [musician] friend of his,” says Meade, who was then 22. He and Jardine eventually fell out of touch – “I didn’t know what I wanted at that time,” Meade says – but he cherishes the experience as an extraordinary compliment.
  Six years later, Meade is a bona fide force as a solo act and fronting the prog-rock band Cambio in Eugene, Oregon.
  He sings about life and hope in an unconventional voice reminiscent of Perry Farrell. He says the tune “Holla” has a dual meaning: it’s about where he lives (Lamet Valley) and telling a friend that “everything’s going to be alright.”
  “Out of the fog from the valley of death and disease,” Meade sings as an acoustic guitar chops at each word with serious determination.
  In May, Cambio released its debut; Meade hopes to have a follow-up released in May. “[The songs] keep coming,” Meade says. “I don’t have any control over what comes out of me.”
  Meade’s wife Talia, a singer-songwriter in the tradition of Tori Amos, will open.

  Eugene music fans can thank the fortuitous combination of a brewery’s generosity and a band’s inspired rock sounds for an exciting new local release. Popular beermeister Ninkasi Brewery is sponsoring Cambio, whose self-titled debut album is due out May 30. Though the name is Spanish for “change,” Cambio’s music isn’t Latin at all. Instead it’s a completely danceable fusion of guitar-led rock, pop and blue-eyed soul. And like a well-crafted brew, no single ingredient overpowers the blend of the whole.
  
  The members of Cambio call themselves “progressive rhythm and blues,” but that’s not quite an adequate descriptor by itself. “On the Beach” sounds as if they’ve tapped into some underground spring of vintage garage and surf influences. Decidedly funkier is “In a Moment,” with a shape-shifting bass and a musical vocabulary that recalls the heyday of ’70s funk ’n’ roll. One track, “Holla,” reminds me of one of my most fave bands ever, The Sea and Cake. It has a swooning, sunny keyboard line and elegant percussion that lifts troubles right off my shoulders. From whatever genre their songs are approached, Cambio leaves open a spot to settle in and keep listening — and dancing — that feels just right.
  
  Following the album’s debut, Ninkasi will sponsor Cambio for three short West Coast tours this summer, to spread the gospel of good beer and help Cambio find a wider audience, which shouldn’t be any trouble at all. — Vanessa Salvia (Eugene Weekly; May, 28th 2009)
