Biography

Ben Wakeman has a natural way about him - a confidence and ease that is both disarming and engaging to audiences from all walks of life. He fills a room with his warm voice, sharp wit and wonderful guitar work, taking you with him on every song he delivers. The songs, though rooted in the tradition of artists like James Taylor and John Gorka are uniquely his own, ranging from whispery melancholy ballads to lean, infectious pop tunes to alt-country rockers.

As a solo performer, Ben has a rare talent for engaging audiences on many levels. There's something for your heart, something for your head and something to make you laugh out loud. When he does perform with a band, the line-up is enviable cast including Kevin Leahy (Bodeans, Shawn Mullins) on drums, Charles Williams (Bonaventure Quartet, Col Bruce Hampton) on lead guitar and John Willingham (Olde Dog) on Bass.

Ben released is fifth CD in May 2010 and over the years has worked with the likes of John Mayer, Gillian Welch, Kristian Bush of Sugarland. His passion for songwriting can be witnessed in his regular podcast Take Me to the Bridge (http://takemetothebridge.net) where he talks with great songwriters about the craft.
