Biography

Alysheba is a band that combines songwriting, storytelling, improvisation, contemporary jazz, rock, experimental music, and impeccably good manners to create a sound descended from numerous fine, champion bloodlines, yet with no immediate kin. Alysheba is based out of Chicago, IL, but with roots, experiences and collaborations in Kentucky, Ohio, as well as many other states, cities, towns, nooks, and hollows across this fertile land. Alysheba is capable of great evil, but has thus far only used its powers for good. Only you can ultimately influence and guide its perilous and unknown fate.

Rattlesnake Studio Sessions

The debut release by Alysheba, Rattlesnake Studio Sessions, is a 4 song EP recorded and mixed by engineer Caleb Willitz at Rattlesnake Studios in Chicago, IL. It was released on April 29th 2010. Initially conceived as a simple demo, the energy and chemistry the band tapped in the studio lead them to the decision of giving the recording a formal release. All the instrumental tracks were laid down in one intense 6 hour live session, while the vocal tracks and mixing were done in subsequent sessions. The results capture a moment in time for a powerful, original band filled with top shelf Chicago musicians coming into their own. The music is raw yet virtuosic, improvisational and free yet serving a larger narrative and structure, and rooted in jazz, while creating a sound with no immediate kin. Rattlesnake Studio Sessions is the first statement for a band that will most likely be a serious force in the music world for a long time to come.

The band released their debut ep, Rattlesnake Studio Sessions, back in April. The ep was recorded and mixed by engineer Caleb Willitz at Rattlesnake Studios, and it captures the full and complex sound of the band.
