Biography

Art rock duo HERE are as musically tight as the familial bond between its permanent members, twin brothers Dan and Matt Mims. Executing harrowing, audience-shocking art rock, HERE is often referred to as a "musician's band," even in music mecca Brooklyn, NY, which they call home. Undeniably avant-garde, HERE still manages to resonate with diverse audiences because of their "undeniable skill" (Nell Alk, Paper Magazine), their commitment to an engaging live show, and their widely resonant musical themes. HERE's debut record, pastpresentfuture (EP length), will be released in Summer 2010.

Dan and Matt have played together for more than 15 years. Now, at the age of 25, they're taking their unique sound and cultivated tightness out into the world. Dan trained for 10 years in all major styles, including rock, jazz, funk, latin, marching, and classical percussion. An All-State jazz drummer at 16, he later attended UPenn to study Philosophy, organize political rallies, and regularly perform with jazz great Ed Wise, among other activities. Meanwhile, Matt spent his youth cultivating excellent chops and a thoroughly unique writing style, as well as composing roughly 4 albums' worth of original material. While studying Anthropology at Princeton University, Matt never left his guitar for very long, relentlessly building upon the untrained (and equally original) musical foundation he had already built.

Of course, HERE has some significant influences, including: Tool (Lateralus), Soundgarden (Down on the Upside, SuperUnknown), Incubus (S.C.I.E.N.C.E.); The Mars Volta (Frances the Mute); and Rage Against the Machine.
