"This guy is damn good"

One of the most interesting things about the rise of the Internet indie artist is the ability for current talent to take bits and pieces from a dozen different genres and recombine them into something new and interesting. Duncan Daniels exploits this idea in most of his tracks, which run the gamut from rock, to pop, to techno, to chiptune, to alt-country, and with a strong hip-hop influence throughout. Often all in the same song. Blindly in Love exemplifies this by sounding like an alt-country track that got remixed, while being all original.

Duncan Daniels's latest track, Forever, is a pure rocker with just a whiff of country. Lyrically, it follows the standard lost love lamented format, with Daniels recognizing how he messed up his great romance and is now "crying forever, forever, forever, forever" because she's not coming back. However, while the lyrics may be fairly standard, the production and delivery are anything but.

On Forever, Daniels puts forward some of his most soulful delivery, ranging from a mournful near-whisper to big buildups full of passion. Like all great showmen, Daniels' phrasing and vocal embellishments allow his performance to rise above the subject matter without overplaying his hand or burying the lyrics.

Likewise, as with all his tracks, the production is both creative and nearly perfect. It begins with surprisingly heavy, almost industrial drum beats, but as it goes along, strings slowly get introduced. First, so softly you can barely hear them before eventually rising in the final rounds of the chorus to a huge climax, creating a feeling of suspended motion reminiscent of The Verge's classic Bitter Sweet Symphony.

Daniels rarely raps outright, although Superstar is a superb track that combines smoothly-flowing rhymes with production that subtly morphs from a Beastie Boys-like thumping into a full-on trance vibe as the track continues. It's a remarkable bit of creative production, and could send a jolt of creativity into the genre.

His trance\chiptune influence hits its peak in Like This, a strong dance track with quite well-orchestrated chiptune elements that add up to something that could have been at home on the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim vs The World. The light, airy electronic elements sound like old-school Nobuo Uematsu, combined with great dance beats and a nice guest appearance by Nigerian star M.I

In Ready For Love, his tribute to finding The One For Him, he muses on how love will change his life; but his superfluous use of autotune gets in the way of an otherwise strong track with surprisingly creative production.

None the less, Duncan Daniels' music shows how fiercely unique and innovative indie internet artists can get. For those with wide tastes in music, Daniels can be a breath of fresh air, showing you can be innovative in your songwriting while still sticking closely enough to established tropes to reliably create crowd-pleasing hits. - Round Magazine

"Duncan Daniels(feat Mackgee) – Falling"

Duncan Daniels teams up with one of Nigeria’s best Unknown HipHop legends, Mackgee from his infamous hiphop group of wayback in Port-Harcourt city, Nigeria, TUCK TYGHT, which also housed the likes of Andre Blaze(Nigezie), Frank D’nero, Lyrikal, da Veteran, Double K, and a host of other great talents..Mackgee is presently based in Atlanta Georgia. U.S and is also a skilled music Producer as well working on his second Album.
The Song speaks about the temptations celebrities face either on tour or at home and how some times they try not to fall, but fall regardless; hence the title “Falling”. It is not your very commercial type of music but it is music for the listener to sit down and just enjoy.
This is just another 1 out of 19 Tracks on Duncan Daniels very versatile SHOSTOPPAH album in Stores NOW. on Notjustok.com, Itunes, Cdbaby.com and should hit the streets in Nigeria middle of march via CN Media. and also at Silverbird Galleria Nation wide.

What can I say this guy is that good at what he does and super talented! How many artists out there write, produce, mix, and master their material and can do it well? Not too many. Got the chance to hear the album, certainly an album must have. Very well crafted, this is by far his best work and I promise, you will not be disappointed. All the tracks on the Album were produced mixed & Mastered by Duncan Daniels for Dunkishrock Productions. All songs written by Duncan Daniels also. - http://www.afrogist.tv

Bio

Duncan Daniels is a singer, Music Producer and Songwriter, born in Boston, Massachusetts, raised in England and Nigeria. Over the years Duncan Daniels has perfected the art of bringing to life a diverse mix of AfroBeat, Pop, Rock, and R&B. His music combines the right ingredients of beats, vocals, lyrics and rhythm that can only be unique to his name and his brand, DunkishRock.

Duncan's musical talents became evident at a young age, and those around him quickly took notice when he started writing music and playing the piano at the age of 11. He accredits his passion for music to growing up listening to artists such as U2, Bon Jovi, boyz II men, and of course the late great Michael Jackson. At the age of 15, the talented teen already started producing music and working with various Record labels and production companies worldwide. As an avid Traveler, he has performed at major events all around the world, including Europe, Africa, and North America. And in 2006 Duncan released his debut album I Don Taya, compiled of 12 tracks that holds classic tunes such as Will Tomorrow Ever Come, Take me Home, to name a few. On February 14th 2010 Duncan dropped his sophomore album titled Sho Stoppah, which includes hits like the song "Like This" in which he teams up with MTV Africa's 2009 award winning rapper, M.I. You can also find Duncan on the worldwide Coast2Coast Mixtape Vol 87 presented by Lil Fats. The video for "Like This", won a place on FUSE TV on Demand and also got on The MTV BASE music video charts, getting massive spins all over Africa and parts of Europe. His album Sho Stoppah includes artists such as Mode 9, M.I, Naira, Felyne and many more. As an unsigned independent artist, Duncan Daniels' hard work shows in the success and fan base he has gained since the release of his debut album. Some of these achievements were highlighted on the Independent Hustlers segment of The Coast2Coast Magazine when he was featured in the February 2010 Issue #5.

Today Duncan Daniels is on the verge of releasing his 5th studio album and first full afrobeat effort. Stay tuned.
