Class, quality, clarity, definition and a “Cut Above.” Like the gemstone itself, Diamond Eye delivers the wow! factor whenever they burst on stage. The West Australian based four piece was forged in 2006 through the vision and song writing partnership of vocalist and guitarists Will Kelly and Greg Fawcett.

With a sound that marries the fist pumping choruses of Kiss and Bon Jovi, with the chest pounding riffs and soaring solos of Metallica and Iron Maiden, Diamond Eye have the full package. Their shows are, quite simply, events.

Whether it’s their highly sought after unplugged sets, or the full bombastic live performances with special effect lighting and pyrotechnics, Diamond Eye is everything you want in a live band all meticulously packaged within their own style and uniqueness.

‘Stadium Rock Specialists’ Diamond Eye have performed at many of the local festivals including WAMI 2009 - 2010, Minnawarra 2010, and Scorcherfest 2010 and 2012 which has led them to securing shows with Ex Judas Priest and Yngwie Malmsteen frontman Tim “Ripper” Owens, indie rock leaders End of Fashion, Australian icons The Radiators, east coast bad boys The Poor and modern hard rockers Electric Mary.

Bare Metal Records 2009 international release ‘Auditory Assault’ compilation saw 25,000 copies distributed to all forms of the U.S Armed Forces featuring the Diamond Eye showstopper ‘Machine’

In 2011, Diamond Eye released their live performance CD/DVD entitled ‘Alive and Kicking’ followed by their first studio release 'Sound Of The Guns,' supported by an East Coast tour and live to air television performance on Perth's Telethon. The band was invited to return and was more than happy to again donate their time at Telethon 2012.

The SOTG title track received a nomination for 2011 WAM 'Song of the Year' and the band was awarded 'Hard Rock Artist Of The Year 2011 by Global Thunda Network. The band was also regarded highly in the 2012 Bite My Music Global Awards by taking out 3rd place in the Best Rock Act category, along with a Song Of The Year nomination and top 10 placing for ‘Waiting For Me’ and Will Kelly being nominated for Best Rock Vocalist.

Both ‘Sound of the Guns’ and ‘Alive and Kicking’ also rated #2 and #6 respectively in their categories of 2011 worldwide releases by The Rockpit.

The band returned from Los Angeles in November 2012 after completing tracking of their debut full length album, with the world renowned production team of Grammy Award winning Producer Bob Kulick and the prodigal Brett Chassen. The album is without doubt, the band's finest work to date and is scheduled for release in early 2013.

Diamond Eye’s work ethic, along with an ongoing worldwide publicity campaign has allowed "Sound Of The Guns" to receive critical acclaim, ongoing international airplay in over 30 countries and reviews throughout America, Europe and Australasia.

With the new album in near site, Diamond Eye is ready to take all before them and cement themselves as an international attraction.

  I'm super stoked to be the one to bring you coverage of this new EP today because it is going to tear your head off and leave you shaking in the wind. And that's just for starters.
  
  
  Diamond Eye's debut EP, Sound of the Guns
  
  
  
  Australia's Diamond Eye have been a band on my radar since I came across them in late 2009. Since then, I've been keeping up with every new release of the band, and every big event they've taken down in their path. Back in late '09, I got my hands on a copy of a rough demo that Diamond Eye used to gain some attention in the Perth heavy metal scene. To give you an idea of how rough this demo was, all it said on the front was Diamond Eye and Demo. But rough doesn't mean bad, and the minute I threw that demo on I was instantly hit by tracks of a caliber that blew my mind. Rough, yes, but holding so much promise, and as I listened to tracks like "Waiting for Me," "Machine," and "Holding On," all I could imagine was what it must have felt like listening to a rough Metallica or Iron Maiden demo before they took off. Secretly, I hoped that those three songs would see new rerecordings as Diamond Eye gained more clout (perhaps not so secretly, as I told lead guitarist Greg Fawcett that "Waiting for Me" was a sparkling diamond in the rough).
  Last year saw the release of Diamond Eye's debut live DVD/album Alive and Kicking which I also happened to be able to get my hands on. Though the album showed extreme promise with tracks like "Atlantis" and a live recording of "Machine," one track stood above the others as the song that could not be ignored: "Sound of the Guns."

  Now, finally, Diamond Eye have returned with their newest studio effort, the EP so rightly titled Sound of the Guns. Yes, the title track is on here, and yes the studio recording is more than I could have dreamed of. Greg Fawcett's lead guitar burns with the rage and determination of an axe on a mission, and as his riffs pepper the rhythmic drumbeats of Geoff Keating and bass-blasts of Chase Cameron, Diamond Eye have reached a new level altogether. From the start, "Sound of the Guns" sounds like a Metallica-influenced song with the bluff and bluster of a Maiden-lead charge. Will Kelly's vocals have improved even more since Alive and Kicking, and now his octave vocal wails are high above Keating's drums as Fawcett pick-slides into an altogether new rhythm. The best part about this song is that is changes halfway through, and in one song there are two great parts mashed together to provide a shrill nitro-explosion to your brain. As Kelly leads out on his vocal highs, the rhythm section follows suit as Fawcett solos until the very last seconds of this song. There is no way this track could have been done any better, and with a single like this, Diamond Eye cement their image as one of Perth's hardest rocking bands.
  Sound of the Guns also sees rerecorded versions of "Waiting for Me" (a fucking brilliant rerecording by the way, filled with more balls and gusto than most groups can muster on a whole album), "Atlantis," and "Machine," as well as a new track, "Closer to the Sun." The rerecorded version of "Waiting for Me" has all the balls of the demo amped up to 11 (ha!) with the same sick guitar solo that melted my face off the first time I listened to the demo. This song has only gotten better, and is a completely and undeniably brilliant track. "Atlantis" and "Machine" are more robust than they were previously, and with the new "Closer to the Sun" to round it out, Sound of the Guns is an explosive triumph for Diamond Eye. This EP has to be at the top of your must-hear list. No exceptions.

  Perth stadium rock group Diamond Eye recently dropped their debut EP ‘Sound Of The Guns’. Performing rock anthems in small venues, Diamond Eye are a band at the beginning of a career that could take them to heights few reach.
  
  
  
  
  
  Diamond Eye are not a group of young, cocky kids, but instead a group of mature musicians influenced from huge acts such as Kiss, Metallica, and Motley Crue. The riffs on tracks ‘Waiting For Me’ and title track ‘Sound Of The Guns’ could easily pass for riffs Kiss misplaced. It is also hard to ignore the similarity of front man Will Kelly’s vocals to the legendary Paul Stanley (Kiss); a voice thousands would love to sound like. Ensuring they are not just a Kiss knock off, ‘Machine’ takes things on a heavier side on the back of the powerful opening riff. This is an EP that should create the right amount noise through the industry, in preparation for a full length.
  
  
  
  Diamond Eye are a group of very talented rock musicians. With vocals and riffs that are capable of demanding a stadium full of fans appreciation. ‘Sound Of The Guns’ is hopefully just a taste of what is to come.

These boys love to rock and they have taken elements of every band you’ve ever loved and created the monster that is Diamond Eye. Kicking around for the best part of five years and with previous EP’s as well as a live CD / DVD released last year the guys have gone back into the studio to give us this new EP ‘Sound Of The Guns’ and it’s pure Rock & Roll!
  
  Here’s what I’m talking about that is sadly missing from a lot of music these days, harmony guitars, guitar solos, acoustic breakdowns, big soaring vocals, hooky choruses, whoa ohs and much much more. Hey I’m not saying it doesn’t exist elsewhere, just saying that Diamond Eye are giving it all to us in the five song EP and it’s impressive. If I did have to compare it to what you already know, there are shades of the melody and anthems of KISS with at times the riffs and heaviness of Iron Maiden and Metallica, but check out the live clip below and you’ll see what I mean. This new EP is their best work yet, the songs all compliment each other and for an independent release the production is great and clean, they’ve truly done well with this and I’m loving every second of it. If you like all of the above, then give Diamond Eye a listen, you may find an element that you love that you’ve been missing for a long time.
  
  In my opinion, ‘Waiting For Me’ is the best song that KISS never wrote and should be being played in front of 20,000 people every night and the band aren’t kidding when they say this is stadium rock at its finest, because I feel like it truly is. In fact all the songs could easily be heard in that kind of forum. To make it even cooler, the epic song ‘Sound Of The Guns’ has been nominated for WAM (West Australian Music Industry) Song of the year 2011, so people are taking notice and hopefully you will too.

  Some local bands are much more than just local bands, you can see it in their eyes and hear it in th...Some local bands are much more than just local bands, you can see it in their eyes and hear it in there music and taste it in the air at their gigs.
  
  
  
  Perth at the moment is blessed musically. For a small city it has more than it’s fair share of bands, and a good number of great Rock Acts. Among those acts Diamond Eye is certainly a band on fire at the moment. Always a band to put on a great show they come across as the result of a bizarre cloning experiment involving the DNA of eighties Kiss and Metallica. There’s a power and a glamour to them, their stage moved are honed and there’s even flash bombs!
  
  
  
  And here for their first proper release what do we get? A gatefold double-disc Live CD and DVD of their recent gig at The Civic in Perth! Now that surely is a statement of intent! Most bands dribble out a couple of EPs but that’s not for Diamond Eye, this is as close as you’ll get these days to Alive II as a first release!
  
  
  
  For those of you that have seen a Diamond Eye show then they need no introduction. For those that haven’t then you are in for a treat…
  
  
  
  Greg struts the stage like the love child of Dimebag and Gene Simmons; Chase throws his bass shapes for the ladies that would make James LoMenzo proud and Geoff kicks the hell out of the drums! And there in the middle Will holds it together like the Australian Paul Stanley (who may be looking at copyright infringement for those moves!)
  
  
  
  Musically Diamond Eye is an interesting beast, treading the line between catchy rock melodies Kiss and say ‘7800’ Bon Jovi and the heavier riffing of Maiden and Metallica.
  
  
  
  ‘Been Away Too Long’ is a cool rock-it-up opener, and from there on in you are in for a bit of a rocket ride. From the classic rock melodies of ‘Tonight’; through the Priest meets Maiden meets Saxon ‘Atlantis’ all the way to the glorious sleaze of ‘F.U.C.K.’ It’s all great fun and you realise that this ain’t just a band these guys are showmen just looking for a bigger stage!
  
  
  
  When you hear songs like ‘Machine’; ‘Sound of the Guns’ and ‘F.U.C.K.’ you just want to hear what they will sound like from the studio. I know the guys have some studio material under their belts too that is in the process of being mastered, that should see the light of day soon. 2011 should also see their first full-length studio release.   DIAMOND EYE couldn’t be more different to their support act, and blow them away after only twenty se...DIAMOND EYE couldn’t be more different to their support act, and blow them away after only twenty seconds with their sheer presence.
  These guys deliver what the Perth scene has long been lacking – a SHOW. They have big production lighting, pyro, some really good hard rock/metal songs and the mindset to deliver a performance reminiscent of early Kiss or the hair metal glory days of the late eighties.
  Their bio describes them as Kiss meets Metallica, and we noticed elements of Dokken and even Manowar in there too. Diamond Eye prove that you don’t need a huge budget to put on a decent show, that you can be tight and pack a punch onstage without being dull and over-rehearsed, and that rock n’ roll in all it’s glory will never die.
  Singer and guitarist Will Kelly is on form, while lead guitarist Greg Fawcett and bassist Chase Cameron never stand still for a moment. The show is all and for 45 or so minutes tonight, Diamond Eye were completely in charge.
  Sadly, although this is Diamond Eye’s RETURN gig with their new drummer Jeff Keating in tow, somehow they have previously slipped under my radar and this is my first time seeing the band – but on the strength of tonight’s show it won’t be my last, or anyone else’s who is in attendance (which includes members of Thrust and other local bands).
  ‘Been Away Too Long’, ‘(Crushed Under the Wheels Of My) Machine’, ‘Atlantis’, ‘Last One Standing’, ‘Fuck!’ and more get a great response from the near-to-full room, and the band perform brilliantly throughout, achieving the best result possible: we leave feeling that we’ve experienced not just a good set, but also a fine show and some great entertainment - and that’s what rock is all about!

They were literally everywhere you looked and its obvious there’s a big and super loyal following there.
  
  People were lining up at the front of the stage as their road crew of 7 (no kidding!) showed just how professional a local band can be.
  
  Their sound was fat, Troy set behind a behemoth of a kit that couldn’t help but make you think of Peter Criss and he had the chops to actually back it up. Chase is becoming a huge stage performer on bass and between Will’s amazing Paul Stanley style vocals and Greg’s Satriani style guitar licks, you can see that glam is certainly making a comeback, only this time with a harder edge.
  
  Quite simply, they kicked ass!

  Out of Perth, Australia, I give you Diamond Eye, a Motorhead drenched, AC/DC-influenced, metal band ...Out of Perth, Australia, I give you Diamond Eye, a Motorhead drenched, AC/DC-influenced, metal band that drips Motley sleaze, with walls of guitars that would make Metallica proud.
  
  Comprising Will Kelly (lead vocals and guitar), Greg Fawcett (lead guitar and vocals), Chase Cameron (bass and vocals), and Danny Torre (drums), D-Eye can definitely hold their own in the metal stadium. I listen to every song off their promo CD, and I gotta be frank, they all fucking rock! There really is no other way to put it.
  
  Starting with the song "Fuck," I am just bombarded by shrill guitars, and killer bass and vocals that makes me feel like I'm sweating blood. "Fuck," though subtly named, starts with a fucking killer (ironic, no?) guitar riff that seems ripped right from the Motorhead playbook. It just drills at your ears until you're red in the head, and your ears are happily bleeding for the metal cause. The bass is solid, the drumbeat is fast-paced, and the vocals are just so different. Seriously, I don't know if I love them or hate them, and that's what I love about them. It's like Bon Scott and Gene Simmons got together and had one messed-up vocal baby. I think my favorite part of this song though is the slick, Scorpions-like solo at the end. Fawcett does a sick job on this, as Kelly and Cameron keep the rhythm. In fact it almost reminds me of The Eagles' "Hotel California," the way to solo trails all the way to the end. And then it just stops, leaving you barely breathing for more. Brilliant.
  
  Next is "Holding On," clearly the power-ballad among the tracks. Most power-ballads are a cheesy mess of corporate crap, (for example Warrant's "Heaven") but this one just works. It's got the catchy, slow, melodic guitar riff, the soul-bareing vocals, the slow tempo drumbeat, and between you and me, a fucking sick pick slide around 3:00. This one just works. I hope it's not left in the "Forgotten Ballads" pile next to Babylon A.D.'s "So Savage the Heart," or W.A.S.P.'s "Forever Free." That would be such a waste of a great song.
  
  "Machine" is a faster-paced song, seeming to fit more in the Metallica or Megadeth vain, though not as thrash as the aforementioned. The thick, crisp guitar riff, however, is a special point in the song, and Kelly's Axl Rose-like wail, coupled with Fawcett's guitar fretting around 3:00 make this a four-star (at least) track on the EP.
  
  Lastly there is "Waiting for Me," a sick track that just screams AC/DC with its opening riff and drumming style. I swear, I ready myself to hear Brian Johnson on here, and I'm almost a little surprised when I don't hear his voice. But that's ok, because Kelly keeps the Johnson standard up, while Torre goes to town on the drumkit in a Keith Moon style. Cameron's bass screams Cliff Burton, and Fawcett's fretwork is eerily reminiscent of Rudolph Shenker's. "Waiting for Me" is a solid track on a promo EP of solid tracks, and brings the CD to a great close. If you like anything hard-rock, or heavy metal, anything AC/DC, Motorhead, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Metallica, Megadeth, or KISS, I highly suggest looking at these guys.
  
  Only a matter of time before they're signed and massively popular, so don't you want to be the one to tell your friends, "I told you so?"

  Greg on lead guitar is sharp, fast and has really got it going on.
  
  This is a band that actually wants to go places. They’re pumping themselves up, they’re talking about themselves, but they’re pulling it off on stage.

The audience quickly moved towards the stage to feel the tight beats of music that the guys were pumping out. With rapid drumming and strong stage presence the song “F**k” has defiantly become a crowd favourite. They had the crowd getting involved as much as they could by letting them sing in certain parts.
  
  From the moment they stepped into the spotlight, loving every minute that they are alive onstage with the crowd cheering for them, they head banged away. They ripped through each song with complete confidence and were in such fine form in doing it.
  
  Diamond Eye was energetic and strong from beginning to end with their soaring guitar harmonies. They are a solid band who is brilliant at their style which reaches out to all different genres and different crowds. To me, Diamond Eye has put a new meaning to 80’s Rock in the 21st century.
