Artist Information

Biography

The Vigilance Committee began as a project that culminated years of individual experience and musical exploration into one group. The band explores uncharted worlds by fusing the sophisticated sounds of the harp with the unforgiving, but welcoming, rock and roll sound.

The group formed in late 2009, years after most of the band had already met and worked together through previous projects. With an already established chemistry, The Vigilance Committee got their feet off the ground quicker than they anticipated and loved the smell of the air when they got there. This hunger was what drove them to their creative edges and ultimately led to their creation of a sound unlike others in the musical arena.

Harpist and vocalist Stephanie Babirak brings years of experience to the table as she adds a dynamic to the group that validates their entire endeavor. Her vocals, harmonies, and elegant strums of the harp allow The Vigilance Committee to build a feeling like no other through music. Guitarist and singer Peter J. Scoma compliments Babirak’s voice with ease as the two often harmonize vocally to establish soothingly harsh emotions. Scoma also takes control when singing lead vocals with an attitude that illuminates the wittiness of his lyrics.

Bassist Jonny Germ provides a backbone to which the band could not only stand up straight, but march to a perfect cadence provided by drummer Phil Corso. The bass guitar does more than provide background for The Vigilance Committee; it stands on its own as another complimentary melody that only Germ could emphasize through his playing. Corso takes the sounds produced and grounds them with his steady and driving drumming.

The Vigilance Committee has set their sails to rebuild a foundation to music that may be seen as long gone. With a music industry in shambles, their goal is to inspire and to entertain through music without the shirt and ties.
