Biography
Morris Paul Lippens was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and grew up in New England and Michigan. He is a songwriter well versed in tradition and a performer of the highest quality.
People call their music Americana, Alt Country, Folk, Roots Rock, or just Rock & Roll. Paul often describes it as "Northern Country", music that infuses american blues with his canadian roots.
Paul's Big Radio is a band dedicated to conveying original and modern themes with traditional appeal yet they still manage to squeeze in a few great covers in every set from acts like - Johnny Cash, the Stones, Neil Young, Taj Mahal, Dylan, Wilco, Graham Parsons, Ralph Stanley and Leadbelly.
About the Band…
“Paul's Big Radio presents a happy marriage of Alt-Country roots combined with a Dylan-esque literacy that makes for some of the most intelligent and rockin' music coming out of Michigan today. Just listen to "The Monona" and tell me that anybody is crafting better songs out there.”
-Jeremy Baldwin - WSDS 1480 AM
About Morris Paul Lippens…
"…There is no doubt that Paul has the ability to transform trivial products (simple songs or spontaneous themes) into META-ART. He is a composer of high quality, well versed in traditional music theory… Mr. Lippens, as a performer, consistently exhibits the skills of a virtuoso."
- Dr. Yusef A. Lateef - YAL Records
About the Album…
“Two Rooms is the album that the entire Alt-Country genre has been desperately in need of. Here's a band and a record that relies on strong songs with good hooks, prose that'll stand up to a bull dozer and a sound so full of honesty and humility that it makes most contemporary bands' output seem petty and contrived… PBR is a strong link in a long chain of Midwestern roots music and sooner or later everyone will know it.”
- Phillips Saylor Wisor - The Shiftless Rounder’s

Paul's Big Radio projects an engagingly ragged array of roots pop, amplifying singer/songwriter Paul...Paul's Big Radio projects an engagingly ragged array of roots pop, amplifying singer/songwriter Paul Lippens' home grown style. Together with Corndaddy bassist Jerry Hancock, fellow Michigan-based guitarist Josh Killom and drummer Christopher Mueller, he offers snapshots of American life that range from driven alt country rockers to acoustic-based singalongs and mandolin-infused laments. Their debut CD, Two Rooms captures live-in-the-studio performances, keeping the raw energy and a few rough edges intact. With a diverse palette of styles and moods at their fingertips, they conjure a comforting, familiar blend of rootsy influences that's built to last. (Embassy Hotel)
