Biography

Stan's roots go back to the family farm in Kansas; where hard work and play were accompanied by John Deere tractors, V-8 cars, & country guitars. His brother's baritone horn was the first instrument, followed by guitar, vocals, sax, flute, and an interest in keyboards. He spent his college years studying music in Michigan, later moving to Chicago to play its clubs, and finally to San Francisco to form one of the hardest working bands in the Bay Area. The Stan Erhart Band ...

An eclectic mix of the finest musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. This group plays for the moment, and covers a spectrum of blues/r&b, rock, soul-jazz, & originals ... served separately, or mixed and stirred. Different formats for different events (trio, quartet, duo, large band) ... seasoned with guitar, sax, keys, or other instrumentation.

Instrumentation

Stan Erhart (Guitar/Vocals); Michael Warren (Bass); Randy Hayes (Drums/Backing Vocals); & often Nancy Wright (Tenor Sax).

Discography

Missing You (June, 2010): Recorded & mixed at Garth Webber's Red Rooster Studio, Berkeley, CA. Immediately received airplay on Bay Area blues stations. Seven radio friendly originals and six Blues/R&B classics performed by some of northern California's favorite musicians. Stan Erhart on vocals & guitar, Michael Warren on bass (Merl Saunders, Leo Nocentelli), Randy Hayes on drums & harmonies (Coco Montoya, John Wedemeyer), Nancy Wright on tenor sax (B.B. King, John Lee Hooker), Mike Emerson on keys (Elvin Bishop, Percy Sledge), plus Garth Webber on guitar [tracks 10 & 12] (Miles Davis, Ford Brothers Blues Band). Great feel and tight arrangements performed by a world class band that's not afraid to take chances. What could be better?

At The Saloon (2007): Recorded at the oldest bar in San Francisco, 'The Saloon' in North Beach. Engineered by Greg Stathes. Stan Erhart on vocals & guitar, Michael Warren on bass, Dennis Dove on drums, and Drift Wood on keys.

Hack Bondo (1997): Recorded, mixed and produced at Mr. Toad's Recording Studio, 5th & Bluxome, San Francisco, CA. Engineered by Tardon Feathered. Stan Erhart on vocals & guitar, Bob Waterman on bass, and Brad Torres on drums.

Chicago Class of '85 (1985): This was a compilation project in Chicago, IL, featuring some of the area's best club bands of the year. Stan was in the band 'Risk!', with the DeMarco brothers (Joey, Johnny, & Sammy), and Jimmy Kidd (uncle to guitarist Paul Gilbert). The Illinois Entertainer sponsored the album and featured it on a cover. Unrelated side note: If you were anywhere near Chicago in '85, you may remember the Chicago Bears' 'Super Bowl Shuffle', featuring the Refrigerator and quarterback Jim McMahon. It reached #41 on the music charts, and was on the jukebox everywhere 'Risk!' played.
