Artist Information

Biography

Given her first guitar at the age of 17, Lucy has been singing her story through song ever since. With no formal musical training, Lucy dove into learning songwriting and guitar techniques while living in San Francisco, and quickly took the leap to perform onstage at various open mics throughout the country. Shortly thereafter, Lucy began collaborating with other musicians on bass, lead guitar, and mandolin to create a fuller stage presence, and a professional performer was born.

Lucy brings a unique style to the singer-songwriter label, as she incorporates a variety of influences into her songwriting, from traditional folk greats such as Emmylou Harris and Kate Wolf, to modern stars like Norah Jones and Shelby Lynne. She has also been heavily influenced by her years living in the south, so there's always some old country and bluegrass sounds popping through--but in an untraditional "Lucyfied" way, as it has been coined. Some of her tunes possess a funky, percussive element, while others are soft, finger-picked-ballads of true emotion. This clever combination of styles matched with her poignant, raw lyrics create the powerhouse of songwriting for which Lucy is known.

Currently calling the mountains of Madrid, New Mexico (outside of Santa Fe) her home, Lucy has played bars, cafes, and acoustic shows in cities such as San Francisco, CA, Anchorage, AK, Charleston, SC, and Asheville, NC. Currently Lucy is working on a new album with fellow musician Adrian Wesley, who plays alongside at shows on mandolin, slide, banjo, and back-up vocals. In addition, Lucy has started a new project in 2012, an all-female trio, Hot Honey. This project brings sweet harmonies, soulful Appalachian sounds, and good-time banjo pickin' to the Northern New Mexico music scene.

Lucy can be booked as a duo/trio for performances (with Adrian Wesley or with Hot Honey), and can also do solo acoustic sets. FOR BOOKING INQUIRIES EMAIL: lucybarna@yahoo.com
