Biography

Jimmy King is a seasoned veteran of “Open-Mic” nights and hole-in-the-wall venues across the entire Mid-West. Rooted in the Cincinnati and N. Kentucky music scene, he has recently discovered a new route to exposing his unique sounds to the rest of the world by exploring the benefits of touring with a complete live and livid band. Whether he is performing solo or with his full band, you can always hear the reality of his music in every lyric and note. His writing is real. Real life stories about living, loving, loss and lessons learned. He compliments his roots and influences who include: Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, 3 Doors Down, Hole, and Crosby, Stills and Nash (to name only a few) by taking the relationship between the audience and himself to another (more personal) level.
Jimmy has just completed his 1st solid decade of being an independent solo writer and performer and throughout it all his music has been awarded and well received by local Cincinnati media outlets including CityBeat, Metro Mix, and Cincy Entertainment.
Should anyone wish to put a label on his current style, CityBeat Magazine (Cincinnati) says, “…He’s powerful with words as the extreme melodic rock sounds compliment the modern and classic beat behind it.” –CityBeat Magazine, 2010 (Cincinnati, OH.). Jimmy’s first major and mainstream recordings were created back in the winter of 2008 with songs such as, "More Like You, "Remember," "Jam," "So Cold," "Memories," and "The Love Song," which sparked interests in major producers in Nashville (June, 2009) and resulted in the top-notch studio creations and versions of "So Cold," "Memories," and "More Like You." Recently, Jimmy released another independent album, “Picking Up the Pieces,” and it has received a slue of responses from local and national publications, local radio, and is currently occupying a respectful slot as one of the top 25 albums in Cincinnati on their local music charts.
