Hello, Boat

Genre: Alternative
Secondary Genre: Rock Brooklyn, New York USA Contact

Hello, Boat is apocalyptic pop rock at its best. Popular girl indifference mixed with end-of-the-world insistence creates tension-filled songs that are lyric driven and lovely. Eerie melodies hang on groovy grooves. It's music to be rescued to. Good-bye, watery grave - Hello, Boat!

Artist Information

Biography

Hello, Boat has played clubs all over New York and New Jersey with its New line up, New tunes, and New name.

Hello, Boat is a happy reincarnation of the band deathmask. Death Rockers Katy Cunningham, Boris Veysman and Steve Dans have been shredding and brawling together since 2001. Unable to discuss new band names without black eyes and bloody knuckles, the three dissidents called in Tim Dempsey in 2008 to be a voice of reason and raging guitar player. Lots of rock and no names later, the group called on Ryan Headley to intervene via lap steel. While Ryan distracted the others with his interesting tones and twang, Katy named the band Hello, Boat.

Instrumentation

Discography

In its former life Hello, Boat produced two full length albums.

Evil Doers was recorded and produced by Deathmask and Kenny Cummings (Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello, Midnight Oil, Shelby), and mixed by Tom Dekorte (Fat Joe, Luna). Both Kenny and Tom helped to capture the feel of Deathmask's powerful live shows in the studio. Fred Kevorkian (Dave Mathews Band, White Stripes) mastered the album at Avatar Studios.

The band’s second album, Wonderful, had all of the heart and heat of Evil Doers, but added a little more lift and light. Serenades "Carl Pavano 2: I'll see you in heaven" and "Carl Pavano 3: I'll see you in heaven" imagine a happy-ever afterlife with the ex-Yankee hard luck pitcher.

Hello, Boat released its very own self-titled LP in early 2010, and a followup is due in late summer 2012.
