Biography
It would be fair to say that the Christian Rock band GodCry almost never came to be. In fact, you could say it died before it even began. As a teenager struggling with the pain of being sexually abused, lead singer Jeannette Franklin committed suicide. After flat lining multiple times on the way to the hospital, and actually dying for 2 very long minutes, God decided it wasn't her time to go. Her work was not done, and he breathed new life into her. Determined to make a difference with the gift of a second chance, in September 2008 Jeannette joined forces with drummer Colin McDonald to form GodCry.
GodCry is an audio infusion of hard-hitting riffs and unforgettable lyrics. Laying the basis for the GodCry sound are Colin's rock solid beats. Catchy bass grooves are at a premium with the "Funkmaster" Michael Feltner, while John Long's guitar work provides both beautiful melodies and razor-sharp riffs. Completing the GodCry sound are Jeannette's signature vocals that are haunting, alluring, and powerful all at the same time. The combination of these parts creates music that is raw, real, unforgiving, and gripping. GodCry is unlike any other band you will find.
2010 was a banner year for GodCry as they shared the stage with such acts as Me in Motion, This Fires Embrace, Ocean is Theory, and the Saavy. They also made appearances at both the Ichthus (Deep End Stage) and Big Ticket festivals (Indie Stage). In December, they released their first EP entitled "Resurrect Me". With momentum behind them and a heart to minister, GodCry is poised for breakout year in 2011!!
