Biography

KARINA BUHR.

All the musical baggage acquired in many years working with many different kinds of music and artistic expressions appears now in a solo album. “Eu Menti Pra Você” (I Lied To you). That album has been recognized, so far, as the best album of Brazilian music of 2010.

The singer, composer, percussionist and actress started her musical career 1994 as a baiana from the Maracatu Piaba de Ouro and drummer from the Maracatu Estrela Brilhante. Since then, there were many other musical groups that she’s been in, including the bands Eddie, Bonsucesso Samba Clube, DJ Dolores, Véio Mangaba e Suas Pastoras Endiabradas among others, besides expressive performances in dance and theater.

Karina also signs the cover’s illustration of the band Comadre Fulozinha. As a leader of this group, she performed in a lot of tours all over Brazil plus many stages in Europe, Canada and USA, where they received the best compliments from the specialized critics. Still with the band, she recorded three excellent albums.

Living in São Paulo for the last five years, Karina integrated the casting of the Teatro Oficina Theater Company, known all over the world, as an actress, composer and musician. With the group the singer performed on the plays “Os Sertões” and “Bacantes” in several states in Brazil besides the Volksbühne Teather, in Berlin, Germany on 2006/2007.

She has participated in many other artists CD’s, such as Mundo Livre S/A, Eddie, Erasto Vasoncelos, Antônio Nóbrega, DJ Dolores, in the compilations Reginaldo Rossi, Baião de Vira Mundo, Pernambuco em Concerto, Music from Pernambuco, Revista Bexiga Oficina do Samba and last but not least in the kid’s compilation Brincadeiras produced by Marc Regnier with her song “Sonhando”.
