Biography

Eric has been writing and recording songs for over twenty years. Originally influenced by guitar heroes like Hendrix, Van Halen, and Led Zepplin, Eric began playing guitar in cover bands in High School. As time went on, Eric became a recording engineer and songwriter in the nineties. After college, Eric worked as a session guitarist during his tenure as a recording engineer and also recorded a gospel album for the Toledo, OH group The Queens of Harmony. Since then he has played in cover bands, punk bands, and rock bands. These days, Eric focuses most of his energy on his main project; the indie rock and jazz band New Machines. Eric changed careers and became a mental health counselor in 2000. Eric moved to Cincinnati, OH in 2001 and is seeking to play acoustic guitar gigs with covers ranging from classic country, to rock, and his own original songs. Eric's instrumental acoustic guitar piece "Shielded" was recorded for New Machines on their second album '729 Tecumseh' and was used on the PBS TV series 'Roadtrip Nation' in 2009.

  Mackenzie’s Song, an Eric Bair solo track, was a top runnerup in my Summer Sonicbids 2010 competitio...Mackenzie’s Song, an Eric Bair solo track, was a top runnerup in my Summer Sonicbids 2010 competition. With his latest material he shuffles effortlessly between instrumentals like Shielded, and a unique sophisticated style that has all the trademarks of Bair as a writer: big choruses, strong melodies and surprising twists and turns. I can appreciate that Eric touches all the bases with pop, jazz, punk and rock. He plays the kind of music that makes a family out of a crowd.
  
  Eric’s love songs are beautifully crafted and creatively constructed. His lyrics are a fascinating look at the nature of love and relationships. None of the tracks are vanilla and syrupy. The guitar work is edgy, even quirky but done with flair that defies expectation. New Machines is a force to be reckoned with and so is Eric Bair as a solo artist. At least you have a job to fall back on. My parents would be proud of you and so are we at Tennessee Concerts and The Music City Beat. Enjoy the success and the roadwork. Setlist

Eric's current sets are about 45 minutes to one hour total and he can play three separate sets to fill an evening. Eric plays covers and original music throughout sets. Covers range from acoustic classic rock, to alternative rock, some oldies, and of course classic country. Eric has played an entire evening on his own and has hosted open mic nights in the past.
